Welcome to the Land of Danar (I suck at names, somebody give me a better name pls, i beg of you). Anyway, this shall be the designated sign-up page, which I'm sure the oldies are quite familiar with.
For all of you new guys: the basic gist of story sign-ups is you get to create a character that I will be using in my story. Every week, a new page/chapter/part/what have you will come out (unless this crashes and burns in a dumpster fire), and you guys can follow along, watching the story unfold. It's a bit of an old tradition that we used to do, and I always thought it was a lotta fun, even if these stories rarely ever got finished, and most barely started.
Some key details about your character are:
personality
race/appearance
occupation (yes hobos count as an occupation)
gear/weapons (if any)
basic backstory (optional)
Those are kinda the basic traits that I need, but if there's anything else that I need to know, throw it in there. Also, if you couldn't tell be the intro, humans are quite rare in the world that I am creating, so I'd like you guys to get creative with the races. You can create your own races, and if you do, I'd like some details about your race's particular traits. You can make a human, if you really want to, but they are a rare species and I'm not sure how I can fit in a bunch of them at once. As the characters come in, I will start solidifying the basic series events floating around in my head, and will approve each character as necessary. I may ask you to adjust your character just a little bit if it doesn't quite fit with the story, but I'm pretty lenient with these kinds of things. Eventually, I'll close the sign-ups, but, until then, it'll be open for a few days. Have fun with it!
And a bit of a sidenote: I'm not the best writer in the world, so I could use all the criticism I can get. And if you're going to criticize, don't be afraid to be mean; I've been a diqhead plenty of times on this forum, so my self-esteem can take a few hits and I'll be better off. Thank you!
3 RepliesEdited by Gingiebread: 2/25/2022 3:34:23 PMOkie, here it is! *slams papers on desk* Sorry it took a little longer, I ended up changing my mind about my initial character idea. I hope it helps, change whatever you need to, but no biggie if you can’t find a place for her! :P Name: Chizee Occupation: Thief Race: Female lizard folk. FYI—her skin is very slick and her skeleton collapsible. Comes in handy for squeezing through holes and finding hidey-holes! Appearance: Thin and a little gangly-looking. Her scales are brownish-yellow, which is normal for her race yet may seem sickly to others. She has large, twitchy green eyes set in a long and narrow face. Thin whip-like tail. Personality: High strung and jumpy. She is generally very suspicious of people she doesn’t know, but will do just about anything for a couple coins. Often speaks in the third person. Her fast reflexes and sporadic movements in a fight make up for her lack of actual combat knowledge. Unless paid or obliged, however, she’d probably try to flee first. Gear: Sleeveless tunic, breeches, and leathers. Arms are always bare and she never wears shoes. Cold-blooded, she keeps a magically warmed canister of questionably muddy liquid in her satchel to drink during chill nights. She actually drinks it from a shiny teacup, her most prized possession. Weapons: Two long daggers and a pair of hooked talons above the ankles of her digitigrade legs. They are twice as thick as bear claws. She also knows a couple fire spells she might use for combat, but those are primarily to help her keep warm. Backstory: Ever since she first hatched, Chizee has been on the streets. Although fairly sneaky, like any thief she has had a few run-ins with guards/whoever enforces the law. She has rarely ever comprehended the difference between guards and common folk, so she’s always on the move and has very few friends. Once though, a very nice innkeeper gave her a shiny teacup, which is the only thing she has that wasn’t stolen.
