I just started playing it, I got so disappointed when they explained the memes.

  • Heheh, yes, TWEWY was made in the era of flip phones, when the word “meme” wasn’t associated as much with silly jokes (I think, probably). Uncoincidentally, neither the anime adaptation, nor the sequel ever use the word “meme” to describe it, instead opting to exclusively call it “imprinting”. :p

  • Yeah, except I'm stuck on the boss fight on Day 3 after the tech guy goes to fix the stage lights. Any advice?

  • Unfortunately it’s been too long since I’ve played to give you any advice specific to that fight, but I can give you some general tips. You’ll want to make sure your pin set matches up with Shiki. The more pins where Neku has to tap an opponent, the better, as it leads to easy sync ups. Slashes are good too, but hold or drag moves can be tougher. Speaking of syncing, it not only does a bunch of damage, but it heals you up, too. Saving it until you need to heal might be a good move. In general, you should always have a healing pin equipped, too. When Shiki’s on cooldown, it might be a good idea to lay off the assault for a second, and focus on dodging. If you’re in TV mode, remember clicking R far away from Neku will instantly pull off a dodge. If you’re still having trouble, check your Noisepedia for any Noise who haven’t dropped their pins yet, and go do some high Reduction Chains to get them to drop. Oftentimes low drop rates mean powerful pins! I don’t know if you can switch difficulty yet, but if so remember changing difficulty changes pin drops, while lowering your level boosts drop rates. And finally, if you’re playing in TV mode, it is worth noting the game is much easier in handheld mode. It’s easier to pull off a lot of commands with touch controls. When I played, I played mostly in TV mode, but there were one or two boss fights I had to switch for.

That was way more than I expected! I am using handheld mode. I haven't had any badges drop other than the ones you start with. I remember reading your thread from back in May about the loot system. I think I'll try to get some badges when I'm playing again later and come back to the fight. Thank you so much for your response Edit: Also, my difficulty is on Normal. I have only unlocked Easy so far. Edit 2: I misspelled Edit as Edot lmao

  • On that note, TWEWY doesn’t throw you into as many minor encounters as a regular RPG. While you shouldn’t ever to need to go full on XP grinding, do bear in mind you’ll need to challenge enemies of your own volition to level up much. Again, it’s been a while since I played the first TWEWY, but in Neo (the sequel), I usuall did a 4-chain Reduction Battle every time I entered a new room. And, ah, in that case, Easy probably won’t get you too many good pins. Most enemies just drop money on easy.

Not sure what a Reduction Battle is. Is it when you click on the red floaty skulls? Or have I not progressed enough to know yet? And I did know that Easy was less rewarding than Normal, thanks to your post about the loot system in May. Thank you for that post and your replies!

  • So, as you know, when you Scan the area to make the Noise symbols (the floaty red skulls) appear, ypu tap on one to initiate a fight. However, you can actually tap on up to four, and when you activate more tha one, it sends them at you in waves—so beating the first batch will then throw you into the second, and so on. These waves are called “Reductions”, so your “Reduction Chain” is just how many you fight in a row. It boosts drop rate significantly, but if you die you have to reset the entire chain. Ah, I remember that thread. That thread was fun. And yeah, no problem! I love talking about TWEWY!

Thank you for this information, it helps a lot! I think I'll go back to playing it now.
