Thermal bomb, send a bolt of heat energy along the ground towards the target to set them on fire. The target explodes on death while burning, damaging nearby targets. Pain, summon and hurl a bunch of buzz saws at the enemy. May trigger PTSD flashbacks to a certain palace.
this one is more of joke that I'm sure you get.
Razor hail, throw a ball of ice at the target like a grenade. Ice shards rain down near the point of impact. Power within, if you've played dark souls, you know how it works. Reflect, generates an electromagnetic field that can catch projectiles almost like a vortex shield and throw them back. Blade storm, imagine fighting 10 markoths at the same time.
joke.
Crush, magnetize an enemy's armor with an electric charge strong enough to create an electromagnetic field to deal heavy damage. Effectiveness varies by the target's armor composition and how much armor they're wearing. May put significant stress on the user.

 • I like the ice grenade. Maybe not raining down ice shards, but I like the idea of a ball of ice that then creates a bunch of smaller ice projectiles. Perhaps a swirl of ice fragments from the original ball? You may have been joking with the blade storm, but what you might not know is that I'm a huge fan of Slashfik spells. What you also might not know is Slashfik is a school of magic that revolves around summoning a bunch of magic swords, kunais, claws, and similarly sharp objects. The characters already know a conjure spell, that they can use to call out a spear construct, but perhaps it could be reprogrammed to create a sort of spear storm.. I'll add it to my spell list for now, and decide if I want to keep it later! I like the thermal bomb, but I think I want to give it to (spell class 1), but at the moment most of what they have are already fire spells. A spell that travels along the ground might be nifty.. Maybe I'll rebrand it to lightning. Remind me how Power Within works again?

 • Power within gives the user a damage buff but gradually lose health. Fairly popular for glass cannon builds.

 • Hm.. I don't think that one will work. Magic isn't intrinsic to the caster; it comes from their catalyst, and the world around them. Absorbing magical energy wouldn't really help them out.

 • Fair enough. Also what about something like like technomancy? Like summon a rocket launcher or throw a small device that creates an automated turret. Outriders' tecnomancer class had some interesting ideas going for it, shame it was mostly blight round spam for the high damage buff that became meta.

 • It’s medieval, so technology would be a bit out of place.

 • I was thinking of making it industrial, and adding some basic technologies, but I felt it would just distract from the magics. The story revolves around magics, so I wanted to keep it at the center.

 • Sci-fi is more of my thing, a lot more creative freedom imo.

 • I wouldn’t say either really has more creative freedom. It all just depends on the writer, I think. I’m personally more of a fantasy guy myself, though. I love magic!

 • No matter what I try with the few projects I've done here, they end up going sci-fi one way or another.

 • I've written a few sci-fi things, but they're all rather short. I usually default to "modern fantasy", where you have fantasy elements like magic, and such in a modern world, with cars and guns and whatnot. Even when I do write sci-fi it's usually in a world where where some sort of magic, or magical substance powers the advanced technology. I really like magic. :T
