But seriously, been waiting for this since they showed footage of that cancelled GCN game.

There have been hints the next Kirby game would be 3D for a little while now. First we had Kirby: Blowout Blast which seemed to be testing out 3D level design, then we had Kirby: Battle Royale, which seemed to be testing out 3D copy abilities. Then, of course, we had Void Termina, who was most definitely HAL dipping their toes into a 3D boss battle. I’ve been fairly certain the next Kirby game would be 3D for a good while, and have been very impatiently waiting for it! The apocalypse setting was a bit surprising, though.

I’m actually hoping it’s not there. Don’t get me wrong, co-op Kirby is a blast, but generally speaking the co-op games tend to be a LOT easier than the single player ones. We just barely had Star Allies, and while it did up the difficulty with Heroes in Another Dimension, and Soul Melter EX, the game was on a whole very easy, even for a Kirby game. I want something more on par with Robobot’s difficulty, which is likely only going to happen if it’s single player. On that note, we also just had Star Allies. That game was built around the 4-helper system, and I don’t see them using the same gimmick twice in a row. That said, while I am most opposed to the idea, I would love to be able to play as the Dream Friends in 3D. Ooh, imagine if when playing single player you could switch between your partners? Ah, that’d be sweet! Being aboe to just play the normal levels as the Dream Friends!

Fair point. Hoping some of the abilities from the older games return, and maybe the ability combination system that SS had.

I’m hoping for Mirror. It’d be super cool to see it in full 3D! I don’t recall there being a power combination ability in Superstar. Did you mean 64? This might be an unpopular decision, but I don’t like the power combination thing. It’s a nifty idea for sure, but the pool of basic copy abilities was really small. It wouldn’t work as well with the new copy ability system anyway. Back then copy abilities only had one attack per ability, which made it easy to come up with some uniqie combinations. Now they’d not only need to come up with the combinations, but also a complex moveset to follow the theme.

Oh, duh. I felt like I was forgetting one. I’m neutral on that one. I wouldn’t mind the ability scrolls coming back, but I’m also fine if they don’t. I’d love if Squeak Squad’s customization came back, though! Changing Kirby’s color, and the HUD design & all that! I’d probably stick with pink Kirby, but it’d be cool to change the HUD, especially if we could make it match older games.
