From the books I have read, when the time jump shows us how the actions have impacted the future I like it. When the time jump just gives a more or less happy ending for the prominent characters I feel that it is less impactful and distracting from the ending of the book.

What if it’s bittersweet? Like, the characters do get a mostly happy ending, but, say, someone needed to die for it to happen? And that bittersweetness is what the timeskip revolves around?
-
if we're talking bittersweet time jumps red dead 2s epilogue comes to mind. not cause its sad or anything, but because chronologically red dead 1 comes next, where everything goes to hell again
-
Is that a good or bad thing?

I mean narratively, though; like, did you enjoy it?
-
oh yeah there good games both of them

Let me ask my wife, she was a literature major! Hehe
-
*eyes you suspiciously* That was an awfully potentially-evil laugh you had there.

She thinks it’s a little cheap to do time skip and it’s a little hallmark or cheesy. For some people it can be homie feeling and why it is desirable to offer in a story. She is just finding out that I am typing what she is saying and a little self conscious about her directness.
-
If you continue typing her responses you can let her know that she’s okay to say her opinion as bluntly as possible. If I was afraid of negative answers I wouldn’t have asked the question. :p Anyhow, hm.. I personally like cheesy, so that doesn’t bother me much, but if I’m trying to get published then I do need to take more than just my own opinion into mind. A bad ending can ruin a good story, after all.. At the same time, cheesy does have an audience. Hm.. Decisions, decisions..

We wish you the best. I read aloud your latest post in the Aria story.

Thanks! Aria’s been fun, but I will say I don’t write quite as well when I’m RPing. If you’d like to read something of mine, though, I’m always down to share The Days Before the Fall! It’s pretty nifty! ^-^
