I'm gonna guess destiny 2 now relys on a Dll that is exclusive to windows 10. Welcome to dll hell folks

  • My sadness about this is just multiplying as the days wane on. Thanks to COVID , I haven't been able to get parts to update my PC ,so I'm stuck. One of the only games I spent thousands of hours on reliably. Same win7 64 , missing file error.

  • Good guess. Specifically, it's a DLL that gets around the fact the original Windows APIs are full of buffer overrun exploits, which have spotty/missing rollout for older versions because Microsoft is effectively using their own oversights to force version "upgrades." Haven't checked if Win7/8 versions exist (probably won't unless I'm contacted about helping Bungie fix this) but there are plenty of ways to effectively fix this.

  • Are you saying that microsoft cut my dll file while I have not installed updates from the system for a year and a half, and the error appeared only after Tuesday's update from D2? They have the keys to the back gate. If they wanted to, they would throw my win7 into space six months after the end of support, and not wait a year and a half for the D2 update. Question 2 There are only 400 D2 players from win7?

  • I'm saying the update may have never been made properly for these platforms to begin with. Your update settings have no relation to that since if there is no update, you couldn't download it anyways. And a majority of players never touch the forums. Figure affected users to most likely be AT LEAST 4,000 given how many DO login and answer the polls. Very possibly far more.

  • Past 5pm PDT. Doesn't look like we'll be getting a fix in time to play over the weekend.

See above, I managed to edit the latest Bungie update into the original post of this thread - you appear to be correct, no weekend Destiny 2 for us.

  • Wonder if we'll get in before the reset at least then.

  • I really wish I knew. It's not impossible, but it will seemingly require a Monday hotfix that gets us going. Cross your fingers for that.
