Geo, we’ll continue from here, so the old reply chain doesn’t bug out.
You duck under the spear heading for you, and dash past it, towards the heart. Unfortunately you find the wall of spikes from before hasn’t retracted, and your path is blocked.
Three more spikes come lunging up from behind you.

-
how tall are these spikes?
-
They’re made of magic, so they can extend as far as needed. However, they can’t bend—so if one is going straight up it can only go straight up, but it can go as far straight up as it wants.
-
Are there gaps between them?
-
Yes, but they’re pretty small.
-
Geo grapples back to dry land.
-
You grapple backwards, towards the spikes coming towards you, and take several heavy blows as a result. Still, you manage to reach the far wall, albeit bleeding from three long cuts along your arms & stomach. The spikes all temporarily retreat, but you get the feeling they’ll come right back once you set foot in the water again. Once you’re back at the shore, Fukua pins you to the wall with her hair, and aplies some light healing to your cuts, so they stop bleeding. They still hurt pretty bad, though. “Don’t complain, if that kept up you’d bleed out.” She said, before releasing you. “So, got a new plan?” She asked.
-
“Okay dear, I won’t complaint.” Geo simply grapples the base near the orb, and tries to slingshot herself as high as possible without hitting the ceiling.
-
Just like before, the grappling hook won’t connect. “Uh, you already tried that, remember?” Fukua said.
-
“Nope, I don’t.” Geo fires her grapple at the energy barrier, testing it.
-
There’s no real noteworthy effects, but your grappling hook won’t connect. It seems it’s not going to latch onto much of anything at the moment.
-
“You got a pebble or anything?”
-
“This entire palace is made of vines; where would I get a pebble? Besides, it’s absorbing ranged attacks.”
-
“I mean for the water.”
-
“Well, no, I don’t. The whole place is made out of vines; not a lot I could have picked up on the way.”
-
“Actually, that gives me an idea.” Geo inspects the vines at her feet, and tries pulling at them.
-
You feel them squirm at your grip, and you’re reminded the palace is under Aubrey’s control. Whatever plan you have is likely quite risky; as the vines could easily sabotage it.
-
If the spears are physical, they can be grappled, right?
-
Well, they aren’t technically physical, they’re magical. But woth that being said, yes, they can be grappled, but it won’t do you much good. They can’t be moved, and they only appear in your immediate vicinity—i.e. by the time you got far away enough for your grapple to do anything they’d disappear.
-
But the ones around the heart are always up, right?
-
Nope.
-
Does the water react to anything being in it or just me?
-
I can’t answer everything for ya; try it out. :p
-
Well, that’s what the pebble was for.
-
I mean, I figured. But, like, Fukua doesn’t have anything to throw, so if you don’t either the answer wouldn’t really help your situation much anyway. >.>
Geo attempts to cut a vine, and touch the water with it, ready to leap back.
