"It's not murder if I have to kill them. But I can probably handle it."
Jack dons his helmet again.

Key Encounter is up.
All you’ve got left to do is finish talking with Aubrey, so you can do that alongside the Key Encounter if you wish.
-
"Semantics aside, you know what I mean." Kokonoe said, turning back to her computer. "Well, I'm sure we've got this. Off to the gardens, then?" Fukua asked.
And question! Geo had a pretty fun side-adventure after Part 3, and I was thinking of extending it to everyone as a little side adventure taking place inbetween Parts 3 & 4. Do you think you'd be up for it, or would it probably just be more of a distraction?
-
Let's go do the thing!
-
It’ll be side by side with this one, so no need to pause the action. I’ll let you know when I post it—sounds like everyone’s onboard!
Fukua begins heading to the Grand Hall, and assuming you follow you quickly notice things aren’t right. There’s a large barricade blocking the way to the garden with the symbol of the Divine Trinity painted on it. “Well, at least she’s not sneaking around anymore.” Fukua says. “It doesn’t look too think. I bet we can blast it down.•
-
"Right then. Stand back." He waits for her to move away before firing another plasma based explosive at the barricade. This one is specialized for altering terrain, though it also works well for blowing yourself up if you aren't careful.
-
It blasts a large hole in the metal door, leaving the way to the gardens wide open. On the other side though, you quickly find things aren't at all how they used to be. Hundreds of thick, thorny vines were growing out of every surface, coalescing into a huge tower of thorns. You see Aubrey standing far above you at its peak. She looks down at you with a smile. "Sorry about the mess. I wasn't expecting guests so soon." She mocked.
-
He lobs another explosive at the tower. "Cut the chatter, you murderer."
-
A vine lashed out, and caught the explosive in mid-air, preventing the explosion from reaching anything significant. "Ah-ah-ah, that's not how this is going to work." Aubrey said. "If you want a shot at me, you'll have to come up here and take it yourself. Since you're clearly not in the mood to talk with me, though, I'll just leave you to my friends. Ta-ta." She turns and begins walking away. Just then the ground begins to shift, and several vines crawl out of the ground, twisting, and tangling around eachother to form four humanoid shapes. One of them looked up at you and growled. "I think they're here for a fight!" Fukua said, getting in a combat stance.
How much you want to work together with Fukua is up to you. I'll be controlling her either way, but you can either coordinate your attacks, and try to take all the enemies out together, or I can split them up, and have Fukua deal with her share "off-screen".
-
"You go left, I'll take right." He swaps his weapon to its mining laser, which would break them down to carbon for any damage dealt. He fires at the rightmost one.
-
The two creatures split up, and Fukua takes two of them on her side, while the other two charge for you. Your mining laser the rightmost one, slowing it down, but not wearing down its structure nearly as much as you were expecting. Something seemed to be off about their molecular structure. As the first was getting shot, the other one managed to get close, forming one if its hands into a massive sword, which it prepared to bring down upon your head.
-
Jack performs a deft dodge backwards.
-
Oh, I should mention; when I do combat encounters you should write your reaction & counterattack in the same post. So “I dodge and then atab” instead of “I dodge”.
You manage to slip out of the way, but the thing doesn’t relent, immediately charging towards you, not bothing to pull its sword from the ground, instead letting it ram towards you while cutting through the dirt.
-
He draws his own sword. The sides begin to glow red-hot as he slashes for its sword.
-
The blades crash, and the thing’s strength is far greater than you had anticipated, causing you to lose ground. Eventually, however, your blade begins to break through the bark, but it doesn’t get far before the creature draws back. You didn’t get any time to relax, however, as the one from before catches up to the fight, swerving to your side, and swiping a large claw towards you.
-
He leaps into the air, his jetpack propelling him as he uses his Terrain Manipulator to created a thick clump of dirt and rocks over its head.
-
The debris falls down on top of it, sending it falling to the ground, but not before extending out a vine that wrapped around your ankle. As it fell, so did you, crashing into the dirt. With you now on your back, the sword-wielding one moved in, ready to bring its blade down on top of you.
-
He launches a plasma grenade right at its face!
-
It explodes, falling backwards as its entire top half is reduced to splinters. Things seem quiet for a second, until you realize the vine coiled around your ankle steadly tightening. After a few seconds it begins growing more thorns as well, and you get the feeling the one under the dirt pile isn’t quite out of the fight yet.
-
He slices at the vine around his legs.
-
Several thorns manage to dig into your leg before the vine is cut, keeping it stuck to your leg even after its separated from the main body. The creature manages to dig its way out from the debris, and plunges its arms into the ground. Dozens of vines spring up all around you—too many to strike at the thing creating them directly. Immediately they all begin lashing at you.
-
Jack's blade crackles with electricity as he begins to slash at the vines.
-
You begin to thin out the herd, but with no small damage to yourself. You saw an opening you could possibly slip through, but it would be risky, and you’ve already taken a lot of damage. It may be safer to clear out the rest first.
-
He drops to a knee, draws a pistol, and launches a grenade just through the opening.
-
The grenade, unfortunately, gets caught up within the group of vines. While the resulting explosion manages to clear most of the rest of them out, you wind up getting lightly damaged by some of the debris. However, now the path was clear for you to reach the one at the source!
-
He launches another grenade at the creature.
