Cobalt sighs.
“I’m not making any promises.”
He loads fresh magazines into his Aklex, then heads down to the Grand Hall.

-
Aside from yourself & Fukua, the Grand Hall is empty, as is the store. From here you could already see something was amiss at the gardens, as the tunnel was blocked off by a metal barricade, painted with the Divine Trinity’s logo. “Looks pretty thin.” Fukua said. “We can probably blast through.”
-
Cobalt walks over, and punches through. (18) He unholsters a Lex, and walks in.
-
You successfully manage to put a relatively big hole in it, but it wasn’t so thin that you could smash it with a single punch—no matter how strong. Still, Fukua assists in your attack, sending several tendrils of her hair into the hole and pulling it open.
Sorry. Even with a high roll it was still a big metal barricade. Can’t just punch it down. :p
Entering the gardens, though, and things weren’t at all how they were before. Hideous thorny vines grew up from every inch of the ground, forming a massive palace of plants. Aubrey notices you come in, and stares down at you from the peak. “Sorry about the mess.” She mocks. “I wasn’t expecting guests so soon.”
-
Cobalt shrugs. “Well, you left before we could narrow down our date.” Cobalt aims his Lex high, grabbing the Sewing Sword with the other.
Man, when’re you going to let me throw this like Hornet? You’re not going to make me do it myself, eh?
-
Well, my current plan is thus; Aria Big Chair contest 2 Schools of Magic Big Chair contest 3 Each Big Chair contest will give it a new ability. That is, of course, assuming I can get enough players. The Big Chair contest structure doesn’t work well if I only have a couple like I do here in Aria.
“Oh, I’m afraid I’m quite busy, you’ll just have to be a bit patient there, darling. Though, I’m not sure you’ll live long enough for my schedule to clear up.”
-
Yeah, all the old folk have left, so you’ve almost got to treat over, because of the influx of users.
“Try me. I’ve been told I can be very ‘tenacious.’ Actually, people like you tend to say that, right as I foil a plot.” Cobalt looks around at the vines. “If it’s not too personal of a question, what’s the deal with the vines? Planning to entrap the city?”
-
I don’t mind roleplaying with new folk, and the way The Big Chair works you don’t actually need to know about the old contests to join the other ones. The question is whether the new players are okay roleplaying with me. Almost none of them joined Aria Part 1, and literally none of them stayed for Part 2 or 3.
“Oh, you want to know more about my vines?” She ran her hand along one of the plants. “That’s good. Because they want to know a bit more about you.” She laughed, and began walking away. Shortly thereafter several clusters of vines sprouted up from the ground in front of you, taking the shape of four vaguely humanoid figures. Water rose up from the dirt, and covered their surface, before soaking into their roots. They came to life, and one of them roared at you. “I think they’re looking for a fight.” Fukua said.
It’s up to you how much you’d like to fight alongside Fukua. If you coordinate with her, I’ll write your attacks to go together, but if you’d rather do your own thing I’ll just split the enemies and have her fight a few “off-screen”.
-
New people... yeah. They’re not amazing at this. I miss the people who’re very good at their jobs. As for fighting with Fukua, I’ll need to know what Fukua can do.
“What, like, as friends? I could use a few more of those.” Cobalt adopts a defensive posture, keeping his Lex aimed at the closest vine monster. “Fukua, we might want to play this on the defense.”
-
Meh. I’m good playing with people of any skill. You get better through experience after all. As for Fukua, I’m not gonna tell you. I’ll respond to how you type. If you completely ignore her, I’ll have her do her own thing, if you try to help her/ask for her help/look at what she’s doing, I’ll have her be more involved. You’ll both get to know eachother’s abilities together, and you’ll get better at fighting together as you do.
Fukua’s hair split into several tendrils, which pointed towards them, as she took a defensive stance. “They’re just a bunch of overgrown tree roots, we can handle that, can’t we?” The vine creature in front turned the closest thing it had to a head towards you, and began slowly lumbering forwards.
-
Well, Cobalt’s abilities can be summarized in ‘for his neutral special... he wields a gun.’
“Never underestimate an opponent. First lesson of combat school. And... second, fire. Fire works well against plants.” Cobalt counters by slowly approaching the monster, and aims for a deft decapitation.
-
“Plants that are controlled by a water witch. Don’t you think she’ll have a way to put out the fire?” The creature let out a sickening roar, and began charging towards you. The vines on its right arm took the shape of a blade that swung down at you from above. “Cobalt, look ou-“ Fukua yelled, before one of the other creatures rushed her. A few tendrils of her hair began spiraling into a drill, which swiftly broke off its arm.
-
Cobalt half parries the blade (12), but drops to a knee under the force. He fires upward with the Lex, trying to catch the Vine Monster’s arm. “Fukua! Need a restraint here!”
-
Your bullets pierce through the bark, and the arm falls limply towards its side, but the thing doesn’t relent, bringing down its other arm to replace it, pushing down with as much force as it could muster. “I don’t know what you mean by that!” Fukua yells, trying to hold back her own opponent’s blade back with her hair. She lets out a short angry shout before slipping out from underneath the weight, and firing a bright green ball of energy into the monster’s side. It flew a few feet towards you, crashing into the one bearing down on you. “How’s that for a restraint?” She said confidently, as the two creatures began pulling themselves up, and glaring towards the two of you.
-
Cobalt tries to parry with his metal arm (15), and punches with the butt of his Lex. “Get over here! I’ll attack, you make sure they can’t hit back!”
-
You.. Parried their glare? >.>
“Got it.” Fukua said, moving to your side. Both of them rush towards the two of you. One tried to lunge its arm towards you, but it was tackled back by a green spiritual clone of Fukua. The one-armed one managed to reach you, but the real Fukua grabbed its arm with her hair. It managed to turn her restraint on its head, though, throwing her to the ground behind it. However, not its attention was off you, leaving you with the perfect opprtunity to attack!
-
Yeah, it could be a spooky evil glared !
Cobalt spins his sword into a backhanded pose, then drives it into the monster’s back. (19)
-
The creature began writhing around from your attack. Fukua capitalized on the opening, sending a bright green burst of energy into the thing’s chest. Your combined attacks seem to have been enough, and the thing fell over. Water was leaking out from its wounds, and soon soaked into the ground. As the first one fell, the two that had been standing idle at the door began to move in, and the third one managed to smack Fukua’s spectre out of the way. The spectre retreated back into Fukua’s body, and she moved back to your side, as the three remaining creatures began moving in. “3-on-3. At least its even now.” Fukua said, her body quickly flashing to that of her spectre, before returning back to normal.
-
Cobalt charges at one, firing a set of shots before slicing with his sword. “Same tactic!”
-
“It’s pretty draining sending out my soul like that. I can’t just keep throwing it out there.” Your shots send one of them reeling backwards, while the others rush towards you. You swing youe sword, but one of them catches it in its grip, while the other one continues to rush you. “Look out!” Fukua said, hitting it with a ball of light. It falls back, but the one that you shot tackles her backwards, separating the two of you. “Get off me, you freak!” She yells, trying to kick it away.
Just to recap sinde there’s a lot going on; -One is holding your sword -One is falling back -One as Fukua pinned
-
Cobalt quickly transfers his grip to one handed sword, grabbing his Lex and firing into the one holding his sword. “Give me a minute! I’ll be over in a second.”
-
It took several shots before it hunched over, and released its grip, but eventually it staggered back, letting your blade swing to the ground. It quickly dove in again, though, knocking your gun out of your hand, and sending it sliding across the floor, readying to lunge anothet sharp claw into your face.
-
Cobalt attempts to block with his arm, but fails (7), and it leaves a gouge across his helmet. He then gets his other Lex, firing on the monster attacking him. “Fukua, how’s it going?!”
-
This barrage seems to have done it, leaving it tumbling backwards, water leaking from its corpse into the ground. After some annoyed struggling, Fukua’s spectre leapt from her body, driving a hair-drill into its back. The creature let out a scream, but it was quickly cut off by one of Fukua’s hair-tendrils slashing across its chest, causing it to fall to the ground in pieces. “I’m fine.” She said, turning to the last one.
-
Cobalt runs to grab his dropped Lex, then heads to Fukua, assuming a combat stance in front of her. “Keep your soul inside. I don’t think we’re out of this yet.”
