So I've been thinking about this for a while and honestly I feel this is the way to not only make Gambit relevant again but really bring it to the forefront of Destiny. So whenever you go to launch crucible, you have options of which gamemodes you want to play. You've got Comp Survival, Clash, Control, Rumble, Elim, and we used to have more stuff like Mayhem, Lockdown, Rift, etc. Well, why don't we have additional Gambit gamemodes? Since Gambit was introduced in Forsaken, the only changes that have been made are round length. Aside from that, it's been pretty damn static. So I've come up with a few ideas for additional Gambit gamemodes that could be really exciting to try out. - Mayhem; I think this one's pretty damn obvious. Normal gambit, but all ability regens are turned up to 11, and you just go ham. - Rift/CTF; The main idea is both teams are on the same map, instead of being divided between two maps. The first core mechanic is that each team has a base, and standard CTF rules apply - steal the flag and bring it back to score points. But the Gambit twist on this is that there will be a constant flow of ads, and both teams can collect motes and bank them at their base to send waves of powerful enemies to attack the opponents base - i.e., collect 15 motes and bank on your side, you send like three yellow bar taken Knights to go attack your opponents and to give you an opportunity to get the flag. Either 10 minute timer duration - same as Crucible matches - or first to 5 captures. - Horde mode; Both teams have to bank motes, similar to normal, but instead of summoning a one primeval, you summon a wave of ads every 25 motes deposited, with each wave getting progressively harder. The idea is that you want to reach about 150-200 motes, but each time you bank 25 the waves get harder and harder, until you have to kill the equivalent of a primeval in the final wave. If the time limit of 10 minutes expires, the team with the higher mote count wins - if the motes are equal, the round goes into overtime and the first team to beat their wave of ads wins. Invading works similar to Gambit Prime in this mode, where if you stand on or near the opponent teams' bank, you can drain motes to help your side. - Survival; Similar to Crucible survival, you get a limited life count, probably somewhere between 5 and 10 lives. This playlist would effectively serve as your Gambit Comp, with freelance and fireteam options. It plays out very similar to normal gambit - 100 motes, summon and kill primeval, but first team to wipe loses. Here's the catch though - for every kill an invader gets, they basically steal a life for their team. So if one person got four kills as an invader, they could give their team an additional 4 lives and leave the other side in a tough spot. This way, Invading sooner rather than later can have its benefits - invade early and get easy kills while the enemy team is fighting ads, you can get an early wipe and easily farm wins. This would also make banking first more important rather than the current strategy of waiting for the other team to bank. - Elim; Working on a similar principle to Rift/CTF, both teams are on the same field where each team has a side. This time, there isn't a flag to capture, but by depositing high mote counts, you can send powerful enemies to your opponents, making them easier to kill. Tbh im not so sure this one would work, as it would also make sense to just rush in and get kills rather than wait to deposit, but it could have some replay value. These are just a few ideas, and I absolutely love the potential Gambit has. This gamemode - PvEvP - is at the core of what I see Destiny as being. It's a game that has a large focus on both team-based PvE activities and a PvP scene, making it more unique than almost any other FPS game. Gambit is the next step for Destiny to evolve, and it's just sitting there and collecting dust. I really really want this gamemode to succeed, always have, and Bungie routinely disappoints, so I'm hoping this can go somewhere. Feel free to say which gamemodes you'd be interested in seeing, if any.
