I am one of the friends that has played with Upbeat for years. We are trying to understand how this ban has come to be. We've both stuck 100s of hours into the game together, most of which playing the very same activities. Upbeat had pre-ordered Beyond Light and we are/were very much looking forward to playing D2 for the foreseeable future. Outside of the ban appeal, I'm not sure what else there is to do. Posting on the forums for some exposure is a last ditch attempt in desperation.

  • Your buddy admitted to having a mod client active while playing the game. A mod client for another game. Which is illegal for Bungies policy.

  • Modding games, as in from the Steam Workshop.

  • It is a breach of the ToS for destiny to have a modding or cheating program running alongside destiny. This is the case regardless of which game the cheats are for. While not the fairest or most clean policy, we all agree to it and it isn’t much to ask of us to follow it. The ban is highly unlikely to be up for appeal.

  • Yet if he had a modded game up then closed it but immediately swapped to destiny without clearing his ram cache it would still be in his memory. Unless you either reset your system or forcefully clear the cache it’s still there. You can blame Windows for that issue...

If they want to play again their best bet is to start over on a new account and make sure nothing restricted is running

  • We will have to see if there's a response (if at all) to the appeal in which case. 'Starting over' in a game like Destiny, when you've spent 100s of hours gaining seals/triumphs/exotics + Beyond Light prep isn't easy to swallow when you've done seemingly nothing wrong.

One is systematic and the second is manual. So something did cause it. My guess based on initial post would be a mod for another game they were playing

If anything this has been informative, as I did not know that was how bans were applied. We originally thought it was an auto ban based on the amount of reports. Our KDs are average/sub par and we don't usually if ever communicate via text (especially in toxic manners).

If you have any questions feel free to hit me up, I wish I had better news for your bud.
