I've been playing Destiny, and only Destiny since 2015, and mostly PVP for the last three years. I love this game, the scenarios, the game play, I'm most definitively addicted. But I'm about to give up.
Feel helpless with matchmaking and networks. Lately, in 10 to 15 games, I enjoy 1 or two at the most. I don't mind loosing, but loosing because, the other team (all three in survival freelance) is way too strong, or when I'm supposed to carry two players (matchmaking), or because my shots do not count and the adversary count twice as much (networks), all is frustrating. Even, wining by been totally carried can be humiliating.
I do not use professional gear like routers, controllers or mice. I play with a standard PS4 with dual-shock.
I've tried changing my ISP, had cable, then fiber optics. If I use full connection (I'm from Portugal), I'm paired with British or American or even Spanish players and I'm totally knocked off.
If I try to limit my bandwidth by connecting wirelessly, I do get (sometimes) paired with people near me, or not (sometimes Russians, impossible to kill them, go figure), but matchmaking is like flipping the coin, players (level, skills or lag) are hardly ever balanced. And quitters.... I even understand they're reason, but as I mostly only play competitive so I can't quit games or I'm banned.
Most common situations are, when using as the adversary, the same weapons and both full head shots, I need at least 5 seconds to kill, the adversary kills me in 3 seconds or less (not fair, frustrating).
Shotgun to the head at close range and adversary don't die, they do the same from farther and I die instantly. I've seen players come against me, while I'm shooting them, with shotgun, still far, still pointing down, and still not turned towards me, bum I'm dead. I've been killed from across the map by a hand cannon fired twice (two bullets), when at close range I need most of the time 3 head shots to kill someone. I've been kill by snipers without aiming.... I know that are guys who are very good and play this game professionally, but sometimes is too much. I've also encountered players (hunters like me) with mobility way lower and without special equipment, run way faster than me (tier 9 in mobility).
Tried playing trials, I gave up, no team.
6x6 there is too much lag.
PVE.... boring
So I'm stuck with (my favorite by far) survival freelance.
Before anyone accuse me of just being a bad player, lets agree to disagree.
What has Bungie to say about this? Is there a fix or will Bungie tell me either to stop playing or two a country/city with better connections?

After getting all the frustration out of chest, I started a more refined and technical research and found a few interesting links... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAU5bIalbnc (nice analysis from a Belgium guy) https://www.pcgamer.com/the-strange-science-of-destiny-2s-uniquely-complicated-netcode/ (about Destiny) https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1996629-the-technical-argument-dedicated-servers-vs-p2p-local-pool-for-fps-games (a little brainstorm about the matter). Has I said before, some players are better than others thanks to their network, not to their skill. I'm screwed.

Edited by shirley timple: 4/5/2020 5:06:47 AMThis may not be what you want to hear, bud, but bungie can't do anything for you. No matter how good your internet connection is, bungie will blame it on your network. They'll trot out some hall monitor like Xaren here to recommend you play on a wired connection but that's the extent of what they can do because their network is flimsy at best. Anyway, i hope I'm wrong and you get sorted out. Good luck, bud
