Despite some of the negativity in here, I think your concerns are valid.
I can also clearly see that you’re not saying Bungie will nerf us back to D2V; just that you don’t want them to.
Here’s what’s funny. Back then, everyone complained. Playerbase at large hated it, which resulted in people leaving, and the only thing streamers hate more than sweating for highlights is low engagement.
So, we got to go fast...everywhere.
Simultaneously, the latter are caught in a catch 22, because the content has to be sufficiently hard to drive people to their channels.
This conflict of self-interest seems to lie at the heart of a lot of Bungie’s ups and downs over the years.
What perplexes me is that the numbers clearly show where they should land. I’m concerned that the relative novelty and convenience of cross-save is sheep’s clothing over the wolf, which is a strategy to insulate their engagement numbers from the possibility of underperformance.
From a business perspective, it’s quite cunning. Unfortunately, they cannot truly hide dissent. This game, without a healthy playerbase, isn’t fun, and it’s exacerbated by the fact that a lot of the people left playing when engagement is low, are like the people trolling this thread...not many want to play with them.
This is a really interesting time for Bungie.
EDIT:
I should note that I didn’t hate D2V, personally. Though I did come to despise Mercury, and thought Osiris looked like a dude trying to sell me terrible chicken, that was mostly down to the planet being too small. It’s a dreadful flashpoint.
Otherwise, I played CoO. I enjoyed the team dynamic of Crucible, too. I do like going fast, but my problem then, and still is now, was that the maps didn’t support the change. They’re too small.

I agree, the maps just don’t help. But that’s why I’m happy about the Shadowkeep changes. If you read the directors cut, it’s mentioned that there are some systems not meant for the stuff introduced into forsaken, like the damage and stacking systems. Also mentioned adding a few new/old pvp maps, as well as removing underperforming and flawed maps. I think this means they realize the map sizes differing so much and are fixing it. Along with introducing 3 v 3’s in come instead. I think these fixes will help a lot with the map problem. Although there will still be a problem, it’s going to be significantly better in my eyes, if they go through with all these changes And hearing the literal game director acknowledging the ill fitting systems in the game is a good sign.

What you say is worth mentioning.
