Throughout the game Cayde makes it clear that exos can eat and drink, does this mean that they still have a human digestive track? Where does it all go and is it even necessary for an exo to eat, can they get drunk?

Cayde eats spicy ramen but maybe it's just like the emote... IDK
-
Some exos used to be human, so it's possible that they might have human insides. Either that or cayde was just joking

Spicy ramen my boi

Bits and bytes.

Ever wonder where the term "rusty starfish" came from?

They can get drunk. Get one buzzed, and he'll tell you about the place all Exo go when they dream... The endless grass fields with the black stone tower on the horizon, with every person they have ever known standing between them and the tower. They kill and kill and kill; everyone they know who is standing in their path. Somewhere along the way they pick up a weapon, but they almost always are overwhelmed and killed before they can reach the tower...

How do they eat? With their mouths.

Probably synthetic organs that break down food to convert the stored chemical energy to electrical energy. It seemed like the most obvious answer, so I just assumed that's what it is without having to think about it.

12 RepliesEdited by Avelithe: 9/24/2017 9:14:49 PMI remember my husband and I having this conversation many times, because he mains an Exo Warlock. He thinks that because they resemble humans so much, and if they were once human, perhaps they've retained some human habits like eating and drinking, especially in Cayde's case. I don't think it's necessary for an Exo to eat or drink, but not impossible. Where does it go? I think the food and drink is converted into energy, like a human. Or... something. Interesting thoughts, though. Maybe it goes right through them, and is stored. I'm sure they have sensory, since they are able to hear. Who is to say they cannot taste? It may not be necessary, but I remember reading somewhere that the Traveler gave the Exos these qualities after they were built. I'll find it so I can cite my sources, unless someone else can find it for me, lol. On that note, can Guardians reproduce? Serious question. I feel like they can't for the simple fact that they're basically, sorta kinda, immortal. They have no need to replace themselves by having children. Would other Guardians, aside from Exo Guardians, have the need to eat and drink as well? I feel like they gain any and all sustenance by their Light alone, since it keeps them alive. I feel like basic human needs, like eating and having children are gone for a Guardian, since it might get in the way of their duties. That doesn't mean that they couldn't do these things out of pleasure. Thoughts?

3 RepliesBefore we saw him drinking I assumed Exos didn't need sustenance, I assumed they were perfectly efficient machines or they drew energy from solar panels or something. But I guess their torsos have to be full of something that mimics a human digestive tract. Maybe they only eat and drink specific substances, hence Cayde's unnatural coloured drink in the trailer.

4 RepliesIt's like the car in Back to the Future 2. They convert the organic material in to energy which powers them. Its not really clear in the game or grimoire, but it's likely done in a cold fusion process, since the amount of power needed to simulate the computing power of a human brain as well as move the exo's heavy metal body and limbs would be astronomical.

4 RepliesExos are just robots with the memories of humans, the memories of their past life. It's very unlikely that exos can eat. Cayde just probably has memories of food.

4 RepliesWhy do they have breasts? We may never know

2 RepliesThere was a series of grimoire cards in Destiny 1 that described how exos were created/made, and also the backstory of Cayde during the golden age described Cayde as being a criminal and was given the choice of either servitude as an exo or he would be executed. Which leads me to believe exos are humans, but in metal casing, so they probably have vital human organs except for maybe arms and legs.

2 RepliesThe leviathan eats worlds as its fuel. Cayde eats a sandwich. Makes sense to me.
-
1 ReplySimple. Bio reactors. A bio reactor that can break down any food could give an exo potentially more energy than they may ever need. That being said, I'm still curious to know what Cayde drinks....

4 RepliesMaybe Exos have a version of Mr. Fusion like the DMC Delorean from BTTF. That is my theory. Just dont have time to explain
-
Exos just eat food to create chemical energy in order to charge their batteries
-
I think it's like Data from star trek, they do it for pleasure, for the experience of eating. He c k they might even just be trying to remember their human life by eating.

It's possible that the Exo run on a form of nanotechnology similar to what some scientists call "grey goo." It's essentially a dense swarm of nanobots that require organic material to replicate and function. This would explain the Exo's need for food, but not the drinking part (unless said drink was some kind of organic sludge used as fuel).

2 RepliesThey receive sustenance by shoving hotdogs up their ass.
