Leviathan Raid First Impressions?

I love it! Puzzles are great and breaks away from the norm of traditional gameplay.

It was ok, but I would prefer if Bungie went back to boss encounters rather than puzzles and challenges.

What is everyone's opinion of the Leviathan raid? I like how bungie wanted to be innovative and tried something new, but honestly, just give us bosses like King's Fall in the next raid.

  • mfw the Cabal are all about combat and power... Yet they make us do puzzles and such when we finally get a raid for them. I kind of felt like I was doing Ghaul's housework in his palace. Tending to his garden and stuff lol. Half expect him to have me take the trash out when I leave.

      It's easily the best raid in Destiny 2 ;) Seriously though, it's a great raid with a very epic feel to it. It has everything, huge epic battles (castellum), stealth (warbeasts), exploring and platforming (underbelly-wise), puzzles, power checks, damage buffs, an instant-classic boss fight, sweet loot, FIREWORKS, etc. etc. Story-wise, are we enemies of the Cabal still? Friendly rivals? Potential allies being tested? Being put through trials and emerging victorious prompts the Emperor to give us gifts. And, the final chest room is one hell of a wink from Bungie to us. Can't wait to run it again tonight.

      • I think every raid should feel like its trying new things. I think this is one of my favorites. That said, I don't think the next one should follow in this ones footsteps. I think it should continue to spin new threads and try and find a unique theme. Judging by the trend, the next one will be a bit less mechanical. Kinda seems like every other is way mechanical (basically the ones that Luke Smith is on :D)

          • Just wondering just hopped on. Did the update fix quest for legend of acrius get fixed? The part where the raid was only 1 seal as compared to what is actually earned?

              Let's see where do I begin... The loot is trash. I literally didn't get a single thing that could benefit me. Most of my rewards were coins & glimmer, that are laughable in itself when redeemed, for the same light level that blue engrams drop for me, not to mention that the raid armor doesn't even include any buffs for the raid itself haha. I got absolutely 0 raid gun drops for completing, you know, the end game... Most of the raid is a joke and easily beatable, not sure why so many people struggle to understand their roles on what to do. The hardest part of the whole raid is just getting everyone on the same page, that's the real boss fight. Only one real boss encounter the whole raid, seems more like a glorified nightfall or like Oryx & Warpriest had a baby. Where everyone gets teleported to shade room, then switches platforms as he call upon the oculus. All in all, it'll take some serious convincing for me to want to do that again, I'd rather play trials or the prestige nightfall where rewards are actually guaranteed to drop. The coolest part of the raid are the overall aesthetics and grandeur design.

              • It was meh. Personally, I enjoyed the challenges and teamwork, though they are FAR too unforgiving as a raid- which bring me to my point- it shouldn't have been a raid. Raids are for eliminating the biggest baddest, to a degree bullet sponges, but interesting mechanics. This was just like a mini olympics, TOO much teamwork was required. I liked it as an event, but not at all as a raid. Even beating the boss didn't feel like a raid as much as a little sporty challenge. Hopefully we get another more "raidlike" raid next time, hopefully before the first mandatory DLC, but bungie doesn't have a good track record in this aspect. It's not hard to just throw us challenging bosses with intricate loot imo. And don't even get me started on the minihardmode limited revive artificial difficulty of NORMAL mode. It was all just really a drawn out, unpleasant experience as the first raid of Destiny 2. I expect better soon.

                  • Didn't care for it. I like well paced Raids like Crota and VoG. People are already put off by the heavily puzzled Raid. Its going to be hard to get 6 players commited to play this Raid often. This Raid is going to be started many times but never completed week in and week out.

                          1). some of these encounters would have been fun if there were not so many bugs. (Dogs detecting ppl on the pillars for no reason; psions shooting mind blast right when the spawn in, dogs teleporting, same symbols showing, barriers vanishing for 1 party member etc). It is an easy enough raid once you get the mechanics....but the bugs see to several hours of wiping due to things you can not control as a player. 2). No drops is demotivating. Sorry but the token system is a nice idea on paper but it needs rework. 3). Raid chests in underbelly of the ship sucks. 4). No boss fights in between. This raid is boring, repetitive and chorish. 5). No spawn points ffs. 6). The entire raid is redundant. It is just a thing to do and there really is no reason to do it. 7). Guided games? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA. Yeah sure.....I am going to spend hours wiping to those bugs to drag a random through this hell? I loved helping ppl in all the D1 raids and we did so regularly even with no drops. LFG raids? No problem! Because we knew it could be done in about 4 hours. But this raid? F* that noise.

                            Raid sucks. I used to look forward to Kings Fall every week. I had to force myself to finish Calus. Boring raid. Shit loot drops. Overly obtuse. There's nothing difficult about the underbelly where the chests are, it's just annoying. Imagine doing this every week?? Hell no!! I'm not sure if I'll do it again. If so, it will just be Calus. Definitely disappointing.

                          • My issue is not being able to use the tokens jntil you complete the raid. I did complete it but thought it was dumb I couldn,t turn in tokens for parts that I completed.

                          • Raid is pretty fun, and the fact that you can use the Underbelly to literally skip the whole raid and go straight to Calus is funnier than hell.

                          • I have yet to finish the raid. My team wiped to dogs last night for 2.5 hours and ended up calling it a night. Go ahead, we arnt good and tell us we suck. I don't care. Rather play with friends then some of these "get gud" tools I see on this forum. I'm light level 295 playing with my team of friends, and am perfectly okay with that. With that out of the way, I won't lie, I enjoyed the first few parts of the raid. Banners - This was a blast. I mean it combined shooting, and a slight puzzle aspect with the bubble guys. So you couldn't just shoot and shoot all day. You had to pay attention to what, and where things are. +2 for unlimited revives on this part, lol! Baths - Oddly enough I liked this part a lot. Sure my fire team and I died for an hour and a half before we finished it, but it was neat. It combined thinking, and a ton of teamwork. You had to have rotations, and timing, and communication. It was a pain but enjoyable. Garden - Like I said this is where we bombed at. The idea of it doesn't bother me, I just don't see the point in it. This is a first person shooter, there is no reason for stealth. Not to mention it's buggy as hell. 3 times I got caught jumping from ledges, which is bonkers! Sometimes the dogs would sprint their walk line the entire time, sometimes they just spotted my guys on the other side of walls. I could honestly say if this part was removed I wouldn't be heartbroken. Overall I like the puzzle and teamwork aspect of it, but if it was toned down just a little bit more, I think it be perfect. I'm not saying get rid of parts, but maybe more time with dogs while sneaking for flowers? I know I'll be told to get gud, and all that, and that's fine. I'd rather play with friends, then search strike teams for people to carry us.
