Above clip (which I have set to start at this topic) addresses this issue well.
Dear Bungie,
Hard light is an awesome, amazing weapon. It is fun, it's cool, it looks incredible, and it has jaw-dropping stats. Also, laser beams. That said, I rarely ever use it. Which is sad considering it's probably my all time favorite exotic.
The reason I never use it, and almost never see anyone else using it, is the horrendous screen shake tied to the gun.
As it currently exists, hard light is annoying to use, and ineffective.
No gun should irritate a player as one of it's mechanics. The screen shake makes an otherwise great weapon a pain to use, and it would benefit the game to remove this mechanic from Hard Light. That said, I understand that Hard Light would probably become quite a bit more powerful than it really ought to be if the screen shake was removed. This can be resolved in a wide variety of ways, such as changing the base stats, removing the (near) infinite range from the exotic perk, or any of a number of other options. I understand finding a healthy balance for this weapon may well be difficult, but it seems a huge bummer that an exotic weapon that has been around since the very beginning of the game has never really shined. There have been several periods (including now) when it has been an alright weapon, but it has never stood out as a great weapon.
Please, please remove the screen shake from Hard Light.
Sincerely, someone who has always wanted to love hard light but never truly has
P.S. The attached vid is the PD review (most recent) of hard light, I've skipped to the section discussing this issue, which they cover very well, including a side by side comparison with an AR of the same impact class with less stability and recoil direction, that nonetheless has much better recoil. Section on screen shake ends at 3:38

I'm sorry but HardLight is for tier 1 operators. Amateurs need not apply and should take one step back.
relax try hard just f'ing with you but seriously amateurs need not apply
That review was the best one imo, only because of the scattered mini raves

2 RepliesIf you turn off your controller vibration it works a lot better. That said, even before switching off my vibration setting, the thing was good. I've rarely put it down for any length of time and never been without one in my inventory (at least on my main character) since I first got the thing during Dark Below's time. There is definitely a knack to it, but once you get that down the gun is both fun and rewarding to use. It's a very atypical weapon that requires a bit of practice to accustom yourself to, though I'd argue that's one of the reasons I like it over other weapons. I fear if its screen shake was reduced too far it'd become very quickly overpowered, then it'd get nerfed and I'd really rather not see that happen.

4 RepliesEdited by KaptainKrakenZz: 12/11/2016 9:06:56 PMI don't get these idiots that say it would become "Top tier" weapon 😂😂😂 I have the y2 New monarchy auto rifle which has better stats than hard light.. No where near a top tier weapon! This community makes me question my existence.
-
A big fat mother-blam!-ing BUMP. I love this weapon but I never use it because it is unusable.
-
-
Did he just compare two different weapons with two different archetypes and are completely different weapons wtf. "If still doesn't out perform the vender rolled hung jury" why is he comparing an auto rifle and a scout rifle, that's just dumb
-
Yeah, I hate the shake too, makes my eyeballs hurt! On the flip side, it absolutely rocked for me in quite a few IB matches last week!
-
It's like a gas powered dildo.

2 RepliesEdited by Gunslinger: 12/12/2016 5:07:45 PMWho remembers when Hardlight used to shoot balls of light instead of beams?
-
the hard light exotic perk is migraines isnt it? remove that and what will make it exotic any more?
-
Using hard light makes me feel nauseous. I don't use it because of that.

Edited by Talia Sendua: 12/10/2016 2:21:26 PMAgreed. It makes no sence that Hard light has a screen shake. In my Opinion make it no sence that a laser shooting weapon has a recoil...
-
Bump. It's my favorite gun.
-
At first I was thinking it wasn't that bad but even with 3 stacks of gunslinger's trance? Wow that's bad..
-
Yes please
-
-
It actually makes me fuzzy and sick at times so I never use it any more.

1 ReplyAnyone that argues the "Screen Shake" is justified to balance the supposed OPness of NDF forgot that the thing DOES have falloff - just a Pre-Y2 Range value that never got changed. Its Exotic perk randomizes the hell out of each bullet that Bounces off things. Even with near Max Stability the thing has a solid bullet pattern most don't even try to reach with outside close TO mid range. Eliminating the "Screen Shake" worries people to the point of "Headshotting across the map" without any thought given as to "At best I COULD hit consistently (given actual gunskill on top of its chosen stability) UP TO MID RANGE and about abit further with some luck." Hard Light is possibly one of the coolest guns in the game. Every time you fire it you sometimes cannot help but think it should have also done Arc damage as well. The semantics of it all mean nothing though, unless Bungie themselves makes an official statement about it going forward. So yea; Imo the "Screen Shake" does need to be removed, and that as all.

8 RepliesIt's made that way so that it won't be utterly OP, it would destroy their precious meta just like the original Suros did back in yr1.
-
1 ReplyI don't use it cause it takes up 45% of the screen. I've died plenty of times cause I could barely see what's happening on the right side of the screen.
-
The perk is useless, it has damage fall of So they can take of the screen shake
-
People who use Hard Light tend to dominate with it but I'm sure it just takes practice.
-
Try turning off the vibration on your controler..it helps
-
3 RepliesNo. It is a viable option with the screen shake. Without it the weapon may become OP. That screen shake is the trade off.
-
2 RepliesI can use hard light just fine. You can adjust to the screen shake, it isn't hard.
