I've always thought that patrols should have been more dynamic. Touching down on a planet and hearing ghost say "reports of fallen snipers near patrol beacons" but in the end there never is, I've never taken a sniper round while pulling a beacon, nor do I feel like I'm on patrol as my actions in the area have no consequence.
I personally think rushing though a group of fallen into a another area should be difficult, imagine going from one area to another and having the fallen call in pikes and have them chase you down, into the next area only to have the next area be even more populated with fallen that are trying to take you down.
Feeling like a hunter or the hunted would be way more satisfying experience, finding treasure chests shouldn't just be a matter of going from one empty cave to another, rather it should be something you have to be clever enough to spot, for example, imagine seeing a concentration of enemies in one area patrolling one cave, you dispatch the guards and move in only to find higher end enemies guarding a treasure chest.
As it is now we have this large open area to explore and pockets of enemies that don't honestly care what you do, but rather take pot shots at you and couldn't honestly care what you do. When i first arrived on Mars I thought moving around it would be difficult as the cabal in the first mission advance on your position aggressively, a tactic that they never employ again. instead its a different map with different skinned enemies that react to you in the same way. how did they keep guardians out of the exclusion zone!? I'm flying around it on my sparrow and knocking them into walls!
How amazing would it be if your on Mars and you run into a group of Cabal escorting a tank to fortify a location you just cleared out, and your forced to fight them, or maybe you could set a trap for them with you fireteam? Making the world feel more alive rather than a series of small groups of enemies in one location.
In short, I guess what I'm asking for in Destiny 2 is:
1. smarter AI that flank and make tactical decisions and actually pose a threat.
2. patrols where my choices have an impact on my surroundings and where I can feel like either the hunter or the hunted, or as DeeJ calls it "an ever-evolving world".
3. more emphasis on being smart enough to notice subtle changes in how the enemies think and move and less routine "go here check this cave, now go here and check this cave. oh look spin metal, now go here and check this cave.
I apologies if I've posted this in the wrong area, I just want to know other peoples thoughts on the matter.

I wish they would use Patrol for Faction Wars. Using a GTA stlye territory holding areas with patrol points. Have a score board showing results in the Tower. Starts on Weekly Reset.
