Is there anything trickier about killing Oryx when he gets to final stand that's different from staggering him normally?
I saw you gave shout outs to the two people that got to final stand on hard before you, and I'm just shocked that people with the skill to get to final stand end up failing it after all that. Did they just choke? Or is it somehow harder than just staggering him the other 4-5 times?

Final Stand is harder than staggering him on the sides. There are actually two different "final stand" animations. One is where Oryx calls for darkness early and his chest is already completely open by the time he is climbing up. This final stand seems to be more rare, and nobody but Bungie can tell us if it's by design or some bug, and we haven't been able to replicate it, it seems to happen randomly. During the "early chest open" final stand, you can start shooting his chest immediately and you're less likely to get any immune ricochets. The more common final stand is when his chest remains closed until he's already climbed up and then he calls for darkness. If you were to start charging your first sleeper shot as soon as you see his chest opening, you would get what we've termed a "split immune". Your sleeper shot would hit and it would display one damage number and one "Immune!" from the ricochet. The only way to successfully stagger Oryx is if you get all six damage numbers from the 3 Sleeper shots. For the longest time, the dozens of people attempting Oryx solos on Normal just thought you had to "get lucky" and get an open chest to do it, until we figured out that if you jump to a rock and pre-charge your first sleeper shot, you could get two damage numbers even on a closed chest, but the aiming and timing had to be pretty much perfect. You have to start charging the Sleeper before his chest is even open. The first person to reach final stand was Clarke, and he missed the jump to the small rock that we would use for a closed chest precharge final stand. The second person to reach final stand was TheGrreatGatsby (Frostbyte3). He shot too late and got split immune. Esoterrick didn't jump to "the rock" but still timed his precharge perfectly, and got the two damage numbers on the first shot.

Interesting! Good to know, thanks for all the detail!
