So, I was running IB last night, and was lucky to be in a fireteam of 5-6 (with one crazy good player).
I'd like to slap in the face the fireteam of 3 that left a game after we got the first spark (not even ignited the rift), giving us a sure win against the 3 guardians who stayed (congrats to you guys, you fought well), despite having in the end to go the whole game 3 vs6 because others who joined also left straight away (it was short, but still).
In general, I'd like to thank the opponents who didn't give up and stayed til the end.
I think it's time perseverance is rewarded.
Would it be possible to implement the following (suggested in another thread):
Mark of perseverance
How to obtain/lose it:
- complete a series of 3 consecutive ironbanner games without quitting (those games don't need to be on the same day, and if you go do another activity in between it doesn't reset your series)
- if you quit an ironbanner game, you lose it.
- to regain it, you need to complete a series of 5 consecutive ironbanner games without quitting

I'm aware you may have to quit for real life reasons. I myself have to do that every now and then. There is however no way to implement a system that could take that into account. (apart if it does something like 'quits then disconnects from destiny servers within 2 min and doesn't connect back within 5 min... but that becomes to complicated)

What it does in game
- if your team is losing, you re-spawn faster.
- optionnal: (might be too op) grants additionnal damage after re-spawn for a short time
what it does post-game
- if you have 5 medallions (i.e 5 consecutive losses) and lose another game, you have the possibility to redeem your medallions for 35 base rep (class item, shader, emblem, alt bonus and tempered applies on top when relevant)
- if you lose a game to the mercy rule, it will count as a 'semi-win': you get +45 base rep (bonuses apply on it if relevant), but the medallions you had before that game get redeemed for their normal value (+40 base, other bonuses apply if relevant). This has a cooldown of 3 games (i.e. if you lose one of your 3 next games to the mercy rule, it won't proc)
why this would be good:
- it rewards people who stay
- it gives small advantages in game that may turn the tides
- it make sure you still get reputation even if you keep on being matchmade against fireteam of 6, joining games in progress where turning the tide is improbable, or keep seeing teammates leaving if the opponent team gets hold of the first spark (seriously guys, the first spark?!?!?)
- it takes away the
I already got 5 medallions, there's no interest for me to stay in this game I just joined where we're already 8000 points behind
- for winning teams, it makes the game less boring because opponents get a small buff

1 ReplyIf u get put in a match that already started u should be guaranteed a fvcking legendary in IB! 90% of the rolls are shet anyways so at least for sticking it out u get a real reward!
-
2 RepliesI mainly stay because I'm too stubborn and refuse to lose easily lol. But I do like the idea of rewarding players who stay in "slaughter fest," especially those you got the top three scores. However I feel like its just a recent issue with IB due to rift.

2 RepliesI dunno man, that sounds a little bit too rooted in common sense for Bungie these days. Even when they tried to do this in Reach, they fvcked it up.

small bump

1 ReplyI got a pair of 305 boots and an exotic for being in a match for 10 secs last night after joining a slaughter fest lol

Rift is beyond one sided you could keep grabbing the spark and just sit there with and win.

I do like the idea. I'm one of the players who will stay even if the odds are stacked against us ever pulling off a comeback and when multiple people join and quit it just makes that harder. I think that what you suggested needs some work but in general I like it and think something like this should be implemented
