"My body is ready..." indeed.
First, let me start off with introducing myself. I'm Carbon Neutral: Xboxian, EE, general slouch, and co-founder/elder of the Silent Crusade clan. Hi, how are you? I hope the kids are doing well... and by kids, I mean your consoles and their corresponding peripherals.
Next, I love Iron Banner. I weep for weeks when it ends, then find utter joy upon its return. Though it may be an unhealthy and unstable relationship, I can't get enough; I guess that goes for Destiny as a whole. It was never 'necessarily' the game type Iron Banner hosted that I was drawn to. It was more like the sheer competitiveness of the event. Before there was Trials, there was Iron Banner, where your long and tiresome grinds for top tier gear meant something. Where you could crush underling competitors. Where you could see how you measured up against other gargantuans of Destiny. Yet, now the next game type is... Rift? As I stated, the game type was never necessarily the draw, but now it's a deterrent. What next... a dude wearing sunglasses and a cowboy hat riffing a bad rock/country amalgamation, singing, "Are you ready for Riffffft?!" Yuck. I was happy with Control and Clash; it wasn't a ball game. Iron Banner SHOULDN'T be a ball game.
Iron Banner should go to the game type(s) that suits its reputation among the Iron Lords. Lord Saladin would agree, I think, and Lord Shaxx, well... he gets off at just about any feat in Crucible, so I'm sure he'd be on board. Iron Banner is supposed to be the pinnacle of competition, for larger teams.
My proposal:
Iron Banner - Matchmade 6v6 Elimination
Same basic rules as Trials matches, but first to 3 wins. First to 5 wins might make games drag on, given team size. Also, no passage coins/cards/etc.
Iron Banner NEEDS to be spiced up, Emeril style. "BAM! Kick it up a notch!" (This reference probably precedes some of you), or for you Futurama fans, Chef Elzar, the Neptunian spice weasel connoisseur.
In any case, I wanted to see who else would love to see a 6v6 Elimination game type for this monthly event. So... who's with me? Against me? Please offer a detailed reason for your decision... Thanks!

1 ReplyIt would be a cool option, but would be very difficult for people who solo grind IB to get very far

2 RepliesWhen you say Elimination, I suspect you mean 6v6 with revives right? It is an interesting idea, but could get pretty chaotic with revives and such. A 1v1 situation can easily turn into 1v6 given opportunity. I rather see a 6v6 last man standing instead. One life per player and round, no revives. Die and you're done for until next round unless you're a Sunsinger with charged Super. Same rules as Trials/Elimination otherwise - wipe the enemy team to win a round. :) Or like someone else mentioned - a Rumble-style Elimination :) One life per player and round, last man standing scores.

Interesting. Would be worth a shot.

Trails is slow and tactical...iron banner has always been fast paced except for when it was clash....and it was terrible. Trials is what it is but for me it isn't a game type I enjoy, I loose concentration and get bored with the standing around....i think ib should keep what it has....fast paced action with lots of shooting

I love it.

No thanks. A lot of pvp players can't play trials as is. Ib control was a place for the non team deathmatch players to shine. Some of us do much better with an objectivw based gametype, and control is perfect for that. Trials is enough for the elitist.

Nay spawn campings worse then rift
-
1 Replyrumble elimination, then we'd finally get a chance at dueling with final two.
-
No revives and that would be great
-
2 RepliesI suggest Inferno Elimination. 6v6 no revives
-
Bump...
-
Iron Banner Mayhem Clash
-
They'll probably whine that it takes too much coding blah blah blah to do this or that.
-
Revive shields. Revive shields everywhere. Would be fun to see in a special playlist before we start talking running it as Iron Banner.
-
1 ReplyBumpidee bump. Let's hope Cosmo and/or Deej see this.
-
1 Replystill better then rift -.-
-
Yes it would be nice
-
1 ReplyWould be interesting but a single game would probably take ages to complete.
-
1 ReplyLol no. So you can sit a whole match waiting for a revive that never comes? No thanks.

1 ReplyNo revives Just 6 lives and Sun singers.... I guess

1 ReplySounds interesting, and it would certainly change the pace. However, I don't think it would work. The amount of camping already going on in 6's is getting annoying, throwing an a mode that rewards sitting back doesn't seem like a good move. Elimination just seems too fireteam-oriented, to the point that a team of randoms stands little to no chance against a full team. From my experience, most people that use matchmaking don't use a mic, which would make an elimination-styled game very difficult.
