Since I started playing again with the Taken King release I have been periodically getting problems with disconnects with the WEASEL error code. There are some days when I can play for hours at a time and have no issues. Then there are days like yesterday where in a period of about 2 1/2 hours I was disconnected over a dozen times. Some times within 5 minutes of each other.
So far as I can tell only Destiny is effected by this issue. XBOX-Live as well as other games and applications that use the internet will continue to work completely normally at the exact same time I am being disconnected from Destiny. Rebooting the XBOX, router, and cable modem have NO effect on the issue. I have been disconnected again within 10 minutes of completely rebooting all devices.
At first I assumed the problem was with my local network connect or my internet service. However, I've since systematically eliminated those possibilities. I replaced the network cable used for my XBOX, and ran tracing and network tests on my local network and found no problem. I even did testing using PRTG Network monitor to ping my home network every 30 seconds from a virtual server in the Google cloud. The ping results shows 0% packet loss, and ping times consistently below 55ms. The linked graph shows a snippet of those results from a time last night when I was disconnected from Destiny 4 times. The logs from my router also show 0 packet loss and bandwidth saturation less than 25% (I have a 40Mb download and never used more than 7Mb during that time frame).
My setup is an XBOX One with a wired 100-TX network connection going directly to a TP-Link N600 router (no switches or other network devices are involved in this connection) that then connects to my Comcast cable modem. My router is setup for UPnP, and I've even considered putting my XBOX into a DMZ to make sure nothing is being blocked.
Please assist with this error as it is making it impossible for me to enjoy playing Destiny. If there is any additional information about my network setup you require, please let me know.

I am having the same issue as you are, i can play for hours on end with no disconnects, then all of a sudden start getting Weasel errors at 6-10 per hour, no other issue has ever been on my end of my network. Ive redone my whole network and did the whole dmz, other router, followed all the guides and i finally came to the end and found why it happens, someone else in the house would browse the web and within a few minutes i would start disconnecting like mad. If noone is browsing the web, i never disconnect, if i boot up my pc or the laptop in the living room, still all ok, the moment someone browses websites, Destiny starts disconnecting with Weasel Errors.

Hi WhiteFox77, In your post you mention you reboot your Xbox. When you do so do you unplug it and let it sit for several minutes to clear the console cache? If not, you may want to try that and see how it impacts your connectivity. Here is a guide on the best way to clear the console cache: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12539

1 ReplyI had this same issue and I found a youtube video saying that if you get kicked to orbit or the main screen from weasel error code on xbox one, to dashboard out hit start and close the game, then relaunch the game, that's suppose to get you into a better server with a better connection, I did this a couple times, and now I can play for hours without any more disconnects
