So, after having played TTK for about a month, I've been seeing how useful Nightstalker can be for PvE. As a Titan main, I still feel that Defender is definitely a very strong option for support, but how does it compare to Nightstalker?
I'd like to hear some thoughts anyone has on how these two subclasses are useful in PvE activities, and which subclass you would prefer you teammates to use.

1 ReplyDefender is better to me but it's starting to get stale honestly doing the same thing everyday. The nightstalker ,however, is more dynamic and fun
-
Defender. Blessing of light is still useful, can make way more orbs than nightstalker if using the correct perks.
-
Defender saves the lives of your teammates. That's support.
-
Defender is much better for the raid...
-
Why not both? Lol
-
sunsinger simply because of rez lol (but for the people who read more then the first line i'd say defender)
-
Nightstalkers and Defenders working together, they destroy anything in their path.
-
I personally think of night stalker as offensive, well for pve. Tethering mass amounts of targets and getting all crit shots is very handy. Defender for titan is still king of support I think for blessings and bubble
-
Why isn't there a both option? Both of them are major assets to have, weapons of light stacked with the increased damage from the arrow is a great combo.
-
Shadowshot is bit more versatile. Nightstalker had better perks overall, imo.

23 RepliesPeople are voting nightstalker? Lol. My super makes me invincible. I can give the entire team shields, make them unkillable inside ward of dawn, or give them a huge damage buff that lasts far longer than your tether. I can blind all enemies who come near me, make orbs on heavy and melee kills, and I don't need a super to counter other supers, I just use a grenade. What can you do? Make me invisible? Take a seat and let the big boys play.

3 RepliesEdited by the beans: 10/19/2015 5:41:40 PMIt seems like Bungie has paved the way for a more offensive defender setup with the "Immobius" shotgun from the gunsmith and a re-tooled "no back up plans" from xur this weekend. Is anyone running those yet in PVE with any success?

8 Replies1 word - night stalker makes a lot of orbs
-
3 RepliesActual defense of team: defender Endless supers: nighstalker

Sunsinger
-
Tether+weps of light=insane damage
-
#sunsinger

Put them both on the team then go to work. I've generated more orbs with my Titan than my nightstalker on a single strike before

1 ReplyI'd say defender because like for the raid. You can't really tether oryx an if you tether the daughters they block they're face. So. An when ever I do the raid with any team they've always asked who's a titan or can make a bubble. The bubble is good (alpha lupi helps) because when you're trying to get you're super before anything happens it can make 2/3 orbs garenteed. An then there's gift of the void which makes 3 more. Then there's melee/heavy weapon kills.
-
Weapons of light on a tethered boss is awesome.
-
Umm I take a bubble and a nightstalker for every raid there both extremely useful
-
Nightstalker because tether and invisibility. If Nightstalkers were lacking invis like Gunslingers I'd have voted Defender.

10 RepliesDefender, why? We can actually buff the entire team, AND create a lot of orbs without using our super. So how can we generate orbs within our subclass? Well theres: Force Barrier melee kills, Bubble taking damage, Heavy weapon kills, And of course our super. Now sure the Nightstalker can tether and pin down enemies, but Titans can blind enemies *cough*withtheuseofanexotic*cough*, or can make heavy ammo drop more frequently and contains more ammo per brick. Now let me ask you something, Have you ever seen a Ruin Wings Iron Harvest Sword Titan? No? They can spawn orbs (on average) for every 3 kills with a sword. And the ammo keeps on coming!

Defender Buff defense and offense Suppression nade Saint 14 Bubble blocks pretty much anything Makes orbs blocking stuff
-
pre=TTK was defender by a mile (there wasn't actually anything to be in second place) with TTK, I'd say nightstalker - mountains of orbs and the bubble just isn't as necessary as it once was (though I won't turn down a hit from the WoL bubble against warpriest, golgoroth, and sisters/daughters/whatever they are.)

Still defender
