TLDR Below
This isnt about wether or not blink is overpowered because it can be countered but its difficult for the average player and most of the problem isnt blink alone its shotguns and the lack of other sub classes being able to compete with blink. I just feel a nerf is just the easy way out rather than hitting the problem at the source, other classes need additional movement options. The new Sunbreaker titan can get something called "Strafe Jets" or "Solar Dash" allowing them to make 1 or 2 quick lateral movements sideways or backwards a short distance with a cool down. The new Stormbringer warlock can get "Electic Slide" allowing them to move forward or backward quickly for a short duration but the energy is channeled through theiar hands so they are vulnerable during the movement and a small delay when cancelled early before a weapon is readied (this would encourage the use of the barely used "quick draw" perks).
If Bungie isnt going to give other classes some dodge skills then maybe blink can have an additional 1 second on the coold down or some small change, but any more than that would be too much as blink makes some jumps difficult that are easily achieved otherwise in pve. There already exists pve content were blink is not an option and blink is a survival tool in tuff situations outside of pvp.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1-2oKoFhOw at 25:40 you hear fizzor, triplewreck and other elite pvpers agree "blink is not gamebreaking" and "there are ways to counter it".
I made for you guys with a few tips to deal with blink. First titans check out planetdestiny' s video for maximizing titan speed with tips on manuevers, all the hunters out there this is known to few but I going to spill the beans. Use better control with bones of eao and you can outdistance blink and in some cases out manuever as you will see at the end of my vid.
TLDR:This isnt about if its op or not, its op because other sub classes can't compete and it's not blink alone, a large part of the issue is shotguns. To me the root of the problem is the lack of unique movement among the titans and other sub classes. Example: Titans (sunbreaker) should get a dash for short distant lateral movements with cooldown, Warlock (stormbrinber) should get a unique slide movement for short distance forward and backward movements while being vulnerable during animation (even new hunter class has shadestep).
EDIT:
Im tired o my all the mindless posts about my k/d going to drop. First of all your proving my point, secondly 4361 fusion riffle kills and 1233 shotgun kills, http://destinytracker.com/destiny/crucible/ps/DaReapa . End of story any further posts about it will go ignored.

I agree

1 ReplyBlink shotgun combo kicks all in crucible
-
2 RepliesWhat gun is that? The sniper/fusion rifle thing you were using towards the end of the video? I've never seen it before.
-
1 ReplyI totally agree with you. Shotguns being up is the root of the problem
-
Just get rid of the noise it makes please.

Edited by spooky: 9/1/2015 6:47:40 PMI find it interesting that they did not include the supposed Blink rebalance in the 2.0 patch notes. Something tells me when the Bungie Dev said, "Blink won't be as effective." I think he was alluding towards Blink Shotgun combo. I do not think they will Nerf Blink. There is absolutely no need to. The people who cry about Blink are the casuals OR the players who do not understand Blink. I am sorry for everyone that back the Blink Nerf but I do not want this game being "dumbed" down just because you do not know how to counter Blink. Just because a perk has a clear advantage over others does not mean it is overpowered. It is called a Meta. What is best is best. Blink is best at defense though it does have some disadvantages such as platforming and readying your weapon. Quit crying. I guarantee 90% of you have no clue what overpowered means. If you have ever played WoW there are clear problems with class balance (Retribution Paladin back in BC, and Elemental Shaman in WOTLK). Something being overpowered means that whatever is "overpowered" has such a inclined advantage it will not matter what you try to do, YOU WILL LOSE. How are you going to sit here and say it is not counter-able when many others, like myself, counter it all the time?! I never thought I would use this argument, but "Get Good".

2 RepliesBungie has two options, nerf blink or teach the majority of the player base not to run into every exchange like a maniac on fire. Which do you think will take longer? I agree that the nerf isn't necessary because players need to learn how to counter it on their own or continue to lose to it. That's how people get better at things, over coming adversity and learning to adapt. Most players aren't up to that challenge though and continue to lose to the same tactics over and over again.
-
1 ReplyI feel that the main problem is the small engagement ranges on the maps. If some larger maps were were thrown into the mix, and fusion rifles were buffed, shotguns and blink would be less of a problem.
-
1 ReplyBlink only became a real issue when shotguns got crazy range. With the range nerf incoming, it won't be as much an issue. I'm hoping Bungie waits to see how the balance patch affects play before they have a kneejerk reaction to all the morons crying about blink.

Edited by pickle rick: 8/31/2015 8:18:52 AMNerfing blink to 8s cooldown rather than 5s isn't gonna change it that much for those who use blink wisely. It just increases the skill gap and prevents (arguably dumb) plays like bum rushing a full team with shotgun just bcoz u can blink and get away with trading a kill.
-
9 RepliesEdited by eternal_napalm: 8/31/2015 11:49:18 PMBlink was fun to use in raids, but as always, THE PVP CRYBABIES AND BUNGIE CATERING TO THEM RUINED IT. PVP crybabies are a CANCER!!
-
1 ReplyYou do realize the problem is the blink and shotgun combo. Half the clips are with people running primaries and the other half are incompetent pvp players. It's so easy to go on a tear blinking and shotgunning and I will be happy to have a nerf to it.
-
Blink doesn't need a nerf +1
-
1 ReplyIf Titans had blink everything would be fine
-
1 ReplyBlink negates damage all the time. Nerf it till it burns. There is 0 way to counter a team of blinking fellwinters in trials. It like most things is broken. There is no way around it.
-
I wasn't really annoyed with blink until everyone talked about nerf in it and then everyone starts using it. One or two on a team not that bad. The entire team and it's just annoying and takes the fun out of the game and breaks it. You get two or three people all blinking around you and you can't counter that.
-
5 RepliesThe only problem is that a jump shouldn't be able to be used offensivey or atleast not as offensivey as blink, Titans are still stuck with w decent jump but we cannot use it to our advantage in close combat at all
-
1 ReplyTake a look it's in a book, the reading rainbow
-
Blink doesn't need a nerf, players need a faster movement speed to keep up!
-
The problem is it is offensively and defensively the best movement in the game. While titans can move faster, it takes much more skill and they are vulnerable during their entire movement. Blink closes the gap instantly with no ability to damage the player during the movement. Defensively it can be used to escape literally anything, if another class tried to jump away from a battle, they are vulnerable during the move, the blinker is just gone. Furthermore, the movement is glitched as they negate damage while absorbing the hit. Any sunsinger will tell you they slapped a blinker right at the blink and lose the charge on their scorch, while the blinker took no damage. Where did the scorch go? Thin air? Blink will also trigger proximity rockets which the user is safely unscathed. Any other jump? Hardly... Nobody is arguing that it's not a cool ability. It is sweet as hell, but unfortunately it has no place in this game. If the time to kill was higher across the board, it would be fine.
-
11 RepliesIt can make it so rockets do a fourth of your health damage instead of death.... Also blink is meant for transportation and escape not killing. I suggest making it so after blink there is a two or three second wait time to pull up your gun while you're in the air
-
5 RepliesUnfortunately shotguns are not the only reason it needs a nerf. It can nullify damage from rockets and no other jump can even dodge them. It can dodge supers like nothing else can. I mean it's just to good unfortunately
-
1 ReplyI like how people can find a way to justify what is really hard to defend. I can make a case that Thorn and TLW aren't really OP, because someone said it or showing a video of two lucky bastxxxx escaping the move in open space, but the reality is that those guns can 2 shot you in less then a second. Blink is broken as hell. You can evade rockets and supers, shake off granades, close down a huge gap while baldedancing while being pretty much unkillable. By the time you run and blink twice you have closed a gap on snipers. And don't get me wrong, I don't blame the hunter only, actually I think that Voidwalkers are even worse, because at least the Hunter has two other "fast" tipes of jumps in alternative, while walkers don't, so every freaking Voidwalker uses blink. With a range melee, the Ram and blink they are ruining crucible more then the hunter.
-
1 ReplyIt's actually simple beat blink go forward so they will be behind you and turn I do it all the time confuses the heck out of people because you practically just disappear on them
-
1 ReplyIf it gets nerfed to where people stop getting invincibility, I'm all for it, since they won't get rid of felwinter and it's clones
-
If you're the kind of player who is able to make montages of shotgun action then blink shotgun is really really good. Most of the time the people using shotguns as primaries blinking around barely go positive.
