All over the forums I'm seeing people complain how 'impossibly difficult' this boss battle is.
My team of 34s did it on our first try, we didn't notice anything extra difficult about it.
It went like this: Shoot Qodron, break detainment shield, repeat. Eventually the battle was over in minutes, why are the forums full of people raging over not being able to do it?
Edit: From all the replies, I've learnt why people found it hard. You see, we didn't know anything about the Eye of Qodron. We never knew how to kill Qodron before actually fighting it.
Our Method:
We ignored the Eye of Qodron and never killed it (We didn't even know what it was). Whenever the detainment shield popped up, each of us had 365 shotguns and we were all 34, therefore we could easily break the detainment anytime. So our method was to shoot Qodron (while staying alive and dodging) and when the detainment happens, simply shoot it with a maxed shotgun until it breaks. You guys should try it sometime :D

1 ReplyHave done both the Gally and the actual method. Killing the Eye and dealing damage after detainment isn't all that difficult. The problem is with the Eye and his ability to play nice, much like the swordbearer in crota. If all goes well, the Eye will funnel towards you, just as the swordbearer would stay middle. That is the only problem our group encountered.

2 RepliesHe was made of metal for me, what was he made of for you?
-
I never finished it wasn't hard but when one of your teammates switches to a 31 on the boss round and the team leader falls asleep in the middle of the match it's impossible
-
Just spammed ghorns and killed him before the first bubles

Edited by ProBMFK: 5/31/2015 7:29:07 PMWe finally finished it after 120 minutes with: 33 Titan with Gjallarhorn and Alpha Lupi for orb 33 Warlock with self res 34 Hunter with invective for bubbles I was Hunter amend used celestial night hawk or aclyophage symbiote helm (prefer aclyophage as a 34 for two shotting the Eye of Qodron and having two golden gun shots for adds) NOTES: using golden gun on the Eye to get jail breaker will generate enough orbs for Titan bubble to be placed. Save warlocks resurrection in case all get detained. Have one person dedicated to killing the Eye and have them run The Invective shotgun. Also save revives for detained bubble that way when the person is revived they have no detain to deal with. In my opinion it's too difficult as it is for a full team of 33s but how are you supposed to get to 34 right!?

2 RepliesEdited by NathanW18: 5/31/2015 12:01:08 PMThe fight is easy if you are equipped with highly powerful weapons and are all 34. I completed it with ease with my regular fireteam. We're all 34, have Gjallarhorn's and powerful shotguns. I can understand why people that have only played the fight in this scenario believe that it's easy. I played it tonight with 2 level 33 friends. We got through to round 5 with relative ease. I wasn't expecting how difficult he was going to be for us. We tried for 3 hours and ended up giving up. I think the main problem was that they were level 33 and didn't have enough powerful weapons to deal with the containment shield and the hundreds of additional adds. I would focus on the boss, but the enemies would end up piling up and I'd have to spend too much time trying to thin them out. The Eye would also hide, which made it hard to break out of the containment shields. Ammo would also become a problem. There were a few attempts where we spent multiple cycles just killing adds and not focussing on the boss. The adds would stop spawning and during that period, ammo would dry up. This is the first fight in Destiny where I have ever had a problem with lacking ammo. The battle music also stopped playing on a couple of attempts. That said to me that we were taking way too long to get through the encounter. The major Hobgoblin's were also a massive threat. This experience made me understand why some are saying it's difficult. Overall, I saw both sides. This fight can be easy or hard. It depends on your fireteam, their level and loadouts. This fight requires all 34's if you do not have the best weapons in the game IMO. If you look at most strats on YouTube, most have full teams of 34 and are only using Gjallarhorn. This works well, but not everybody has access to it.

6 RepliesI haven't played because nobody wants a 33 in their game. So screw it.
-
Killed him literally 10 secs with weapons, ghally, and two nighthawks
-
5 RepliesWe all busted through those doors, popped a Weapons of Light, everyone had 7 Gally shots, spank a few new rockets in that naughty girl and fire 7 more, boom. Easiest boss ever.
-
I still think he was easy... Damage boss, Kill the eye, break bubble, repeat.
-
We beat ours without weapons of light 14 ghally shots Within 5 minutes of starting it One detainment bubble and then it was over
-
First time it was hard we had 2 Titans 33 and 34 and a 33 hunter. Second time 3 warlocks all 34 and we done it pretty easy. Both times on the left!
-
Yeah he was really hard... I kinda got a semi myself
-
6 RepliesSorry, but I'm calling BS. You can't break out of those detainments without the perk. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and here's why: The eye spawns next to Qodron. So if you used high blast radius rockets or gallys, one of you would have killed him. In the middle of all the action you probably didn't notice that you killed him. Just because you didn't see that you killed the eye doesn't mean that you didn't kill the eye.

Everything besides the boss is easy, and, honestly, the entire run was quite enjoyably. The boss was a little challenging, but with help from guides (And Gjallerhorn players) we were able finish it.

Edited by ShadowScope11208: 5/31/2015 12:21:07 PMI completed it with two 33s. I would kill Qodron's eye and take care of ads. I used the fusion rifle from Variks. With the buff from killing the eye, it one shots the detainment bubbles. The 33s would focus on Qodron and staying alive. Took about 3 tries
-
Took me 5 funking hours. No gjally then some 34 with galley joined and we beat it in no time like wtf
-
the fourms aren't full of 34's with maxed shooties so yea, that would present a problem for most.
-
5 RepliesDrop your lvls down only 33's and can only use max exotics. Then comeback and say its not hard. Only had time for 1 run on 34 POE last week which was easy and got 1 ethric light there, done the nightfall x 3 no ethric light. If unlucky like this the only way to get more is to do the 34 poe JUST LIKE LAST WEEK so u shouldnt have to be 34 to do it. Ppl keep saying they did it but i have yet to find one video of a full 33 team not max weapons!

8 RepliesEdited by Servolenkung: 5/31/2015 2:36:51 AMTried it today with "Ghorn Strategy" and almost got him, but the inventory (360) loaded like a century and then came the detainment bubble followed by death. Later on we tried to shoot our first rounds with our Gjallarhorns and then looked for a safe spot. We killed the Eye, but the Gaygoblins and the Gaylord shot us almost to death so that we were dead right away as soon as the detainment bubble was activated. After almost an hour, we gave up on trying. We tried other strategies, too, like left or right safe spot, one guy looks out for Eye Goblin, shooting the bubble with shotgun. Worked for a while, but as soon as the Superfaggoblins walk or teleport in your comfort zone, you're in a very tight spot. That was my experience and it was mentally tiring, seriously. Should the Lv34 PoE be so hard? (didn't try Urrox last week)
-
6 RepliesNot true. As a 34 with sword breaker 331 and 365 fatebringers a full clip of both wouldn't break it for me
-
Gave up after a couple of hours, was late at night tiredness kicked in and we just couldn't concentrate, definitely gonna give it another go though

1 ReplyEdited by Pierro40: 5/31/2015 10:54:10 AM30 minutes to get the mechanic. 5 min to kill him. One 34 with blackhamer shooting the boss (only him) (I did 10-15 critical in a row) One 34 killing te little vex And a 33 protecting the sniper guy Ovb sometimes the room was clear of mobs, so every one can dps the boss at this moment, but it's not long. We did it 3 times in a row. The key to this strat is to be calm, don't panic, sometimes mobs attracted us, so I was using tender lord or my golden gun to clear the area. I was also using minimum armor and max regen.

Edited by Destiny user 13: 5/31/2015 10:51:59 AMYour method works cause you have maxed weapons and have full team of 34 . really not the same thing with all 33's and 331 weapons .

I soloed him took a fair few hours got the hang of it and just took it slow

2 RepliesEdited by Artemis: 5/31/2015 11:31:05 AMWe didn't wipe once through the whole thing. Flawless victory.
