FEEDBACK... on why i dont do strikes, raids and gambit, and only play rumble

i thought i would just drop this here for the devs. seeing a lot of exotic quests, and got a lot of old ones. lucky i have done some on my hunter so i dont need my warlock or titan to do them to get Ace for example... but i saw your TWAB where you said you no longer cared whether you punished the cheaters or the innocents. so now gambit, raids, strikes (i am no pvp obsessive so trials was nope anyway) and any pvp mode aside from rumble i refuse to take part in. i do not cheat. i will never cheat, except in modding an offline only game. to cheat in destiny 2 or any online game means disadvantaging other players in doing so. i once came across a cheater in the first EA battlefront game. invincible, infinite jump pack, aimbot and wallhack, one shot killiing at any range even through obstacles. even his own team was shooting at him in the end. i found a message sent to 'all' where he advertised, so i went and left a comment on his youtube, and he was german - though if i hazard a guess former east german since it seems a lot of former iron curtain or soviet nationals have no issues cheating. i explained to him something he seemed genuinely appalled at - he had not considered he was ruining the game for me. he thought others would both find it funny and want to buy the cheats. that surprised me until i remembered that a lot of players in pvp games dont really see other players as real but as super difficult to kill npcs. whatever his reason, he was upset that i was angry and had had my experience ruined and felt i had been left out of pocket. i tell this here to explain my negative experience and response to a time i was in a game with a cheater. many did quit, i tried to but wound up in the same game. now he was easy to tell he was cheating. i cannot be sure if i have seen a single cheater in destiny 2. i just couldnt tell if someone is really that good or just cheating subtly. i play on pc with a controller, because i cant handle mouse keys with the state of my hands any more but i can still use a controller. i was never fond of pvp but played rumble occasionally for fun, and other modes if i had to for exotic quests: NO LONGER i wont risk being an innocent victim banned by you because YOU devs force me into game modes i dont like or want to play, for an exotic i really want. i find it offensive you would consider punishing the innocent as well as a cheater; it offends my sense of JUSTICE. i understand your desire to ban cheaters. just like i understand the intent of the combatants in syria fighting for either side - but i dont understand their bombing of civilians and hospitals with WMD. bungie you just announced you will be carpet bombing areas to get one cheater... and everyone else, well, just collateral damage. now you could make it so no exotic requests REQUIRE pvp at all, or the pvp element can be rumble, where a cheater is on their own and not in a team. but ACE requires people to play gambit, and if someone cheats in that (and how the hell will i know with so much to do killing enemies and banking motes and looking for invaders?) the risk of banning for no reason or fault of my own is not worth taking. fortunately i have that gun and can just generate a new one from the exotics menu if needed. all those activities have their own gear anyway. i have never bothered with menagerie - i meant to at some point, never got around to it, and now thats okay, i just wont bother at all. im not looking for any response from other players; this is purely for bungie. but i can be sure a lot of other people thinking the same since that desperation move to nuke em all and get that one cheater. and some are unaware now that doing a strike of any kind now even, could randomly get them banned from the game and lose everything. i migrated from battlenet. i even wiped my titan so i could start him over on steam. i paid money for destiny 2 and all expansions and the season pass. i never liked doing strikes but i could at least do them to get fossil hermaion blooms or whatever for a quest, now i dont dare risk it. some people say, well find players you trust not to cheat. im telling you, you cant trust anyone. i know that from bitter experience throughout real life. im extremely risk averse as a result, and now team activities aside from public events are just a risk i dont need to take at all. i never raided because i had to trust people to find a group but strikes were at least matchmade, as was control. this means i will likely not see a lot of new exotics unless they get added to loot pool, because if the quest line for them requires ANY fireteam activity, im walking away. so, thats my position now - no team related activity is useful to me. why am i saying this? because you seem to have found out that the player base has public event fatigue with seraph towers. i gave up on it because the bunker clearances became too hard to do solo. i wasnt enjoying those. i wasnt getting anything from events often enough to upgrade the bunkers much. often i wasnt even able to clear them. so i took a break from the game. i have no problem with that concept, the towers would be fun - but the bounties require 4 completions and i never found groups willing to do more than 2, and its only last week that the damn events were doable anyway - so long as 5 or 6 people show up. before that, they were just all failing, people were leaving because discouraged. so fine, you say the next season is more new strikes and raid. no good to me. and this season, unless its the last included in the season pass i bought before migration, is something i wont even need to buy since it has no new activity i will take part in. thats why this is relevant. you point a gun at my head and say not that im cheating but that if i am within 6 feet of one im as bad as one, even if i dont have a clue they were one, and you will then pull the trigger. so i say, fine, i wont play anything requires joining a fireteam. so you then say, public events are boring the players, now the next season we will focus on... fireteam required events. and we will drop nukes on the whole fireteam if one of them does something wrong. not my idea of fun. but the thing that angers me most in this is that you would ban me for not having the tools to detect a cheater that you do, and thus not leaving a game when quite frankly, im not that good at playing and wont often come top in rumble anyway. if i make third i have done well in rumble. normally im 4th or below. i will not risk being labelled something i despise, and hold in contempt, just for being present and unknowing. hopefully this feedback will inform you devs about my personal problem with that policy you have adopted. of others want to add their voice here and say they feel the same or similar but disagree with me on the exotic quests, fine. i enjoy doing the quest for completion - but what point risking never being able to play again thanks to some idiot i didnt know and who turned out your system flagged up. since i cant run anything to detect cheating because that would be a ban offence, you really have screwed fireteams for me totally. i have no way to detect a clever cheat - but if you do then I get banned for not being allowed to use tools like yours to try and protect myself. talk about catch 22.

  • Even though that’s a lot of feedback, Funny story: Remember that Centurion Oryx took right after you landed on the Dreadnaught, then the Centurion and the taken Ogre tried to stop you from killing the King? Heh... didn't work. So the Centurion's bond brothers are pretty angry they lost their commander. They're leading a team to blow up the Dreadnaught's core. Core goes... most of the system goes with it. You're going to make sure that doesn't happen.
