Well, if you're going to do it....... (sunsetting)

I'm not going to pretend that sunsetting can be stopped. So, bungie, if you happen to read this (again, doubtful), here's a few things that must be considered: 1. Masterwork economy. Particularly for armor, this has to get easier. Because when sunsetting occurs, ascendant shards are 100% wasted on armor that isn't exotic. And exotic armor is stupid expensive to masterwork already. 2. Armor rolls. If we can't keep using the good armor we've managed to get, then legendary gear should not be allowed to drop with a stat total less than 55. Anything below that threshold is pretty much instantly dismantled. 3. Weapon rolls. Like with the armor, potential perk pools will have to be concentrated so that something useable drops quickly at the start of a season, and we can reasonably obtain a god roll before the end of a season. This means get useless perks out of here. Things like pulse monitor come to mind. 4. Weapon pool. You guys had better end up introducing more than a handful of weapons per season now. 6 seasonal weapons (I'm including the season pass weapons here), and about the same number added to the world drops? Sorry, but 12 weapons per season isn't going to cut it with all of the weapon types and their archetypes in the game. You want us to use seasonal weapons in the seasonal activity? Great, look at the seraph weapons for inspiration. Make the seasonal stuff DO SOMETHING beyond just go 'pew pew'. Perhaps not everywhere, but at least in the seasonal activity. 5. Where sunsetting counts. This needs to stay limited to pinnacle activities. So, trials, raids, iron banner, and master/grand master nightfalls. The two nightfall ordeals with matchmaking, the seasonal activity, and all of the core activities must stay where you can bring any weapon you want, going all the way back to year 1 if someone wants to. Dungeons could go either way. Now, I think sunsetting will hurt those activities. Right now IB is great for getting power due to the weekly bounties. But if people aren't in a position to be using 100% current gear, then they just won't bother. Same with raids, and even more so with trials. Trials is a mess even with us being able to use any gear we want right now. And this is without touching on the pvp side of Gambit. Light level will have to be disabled in gambit pvp for sunsetting to truly not affect the core activites. 6. Seasonal mods on exotics. With exotic gear being the only stuff exempt from sunsetting, it's about to be more important than ever. And a glaring weakness that's been seen since shadowkeep launched is that exotic weapons and armor can't use seasonal mods. Time to change that. None of the champion mods are going to make any of the exotic weapons OP, and it at least gives us some more options. You know, the very thing that you're taking away by implementing sunsetting.
