Fusions rifles pre-patch were capable of dealing 75% of their maximum damage even at max possible range and now its 50%, but for fusions that aren't high impacts the damage fall off paired with the reduction of overall range has seriously crippled the power of those archetypes. For fusions like the adaptive and rapid-fire frame fusions that already had very low range and borderline damage to kill, the effects of the nerf has lowered their usability greatly, even if they improved their overall accuracy. Even precision frame fusions are kind of lacking even with liquid coils. I, however, would not be opposed to how they perform now if their damage was improved a bit. So below I'm going to give some numbers on how much damage they could deal if bungie planned to improve them. Let's just assume I'm not talking about accelerated coils or liquid coils but the base damage. Rapid-fire frame: increase damage from 35 to 37. Same number of bolts to kill (with liquid coils, 4 resilience and below guardians would die in 5 bolts if it only adds 1 damage, so 38). Adaptive frame: increase damage from 38 to 40. Previously killed 4 resilience and below guardians in 5 bolts, now kills 9 resilience and below guardians in 5 bolts (LC allows you to kill all resilience levels). Precision frame: increase damage from 39 to 41. Same number of bolts to kill, but kills all resilience levels (before 7 resilience and below guardians would die in 5 bolts and anything above would die in 6). Liquid coils changes nothing. With damage improvements like this, fusion rifles will be a more potent threat in their correct effective range and will add a little more forgiveness to those archetypes. Even though they are more forgiving and powerful, the damage floor will keep them in check as well as the nerf to range and zoom because the scaling will make this 2 damage increase very unnoticeable if we factor in fall off.
