Anybody out there that plays mmo/rpg type games, either free to play or subscription based have an opinion on what's the best to play?
I see Black Desert Online and Final Fantasy 14, ESO , along with a bunch of others mixed in. What's the best one in your opinion and why.
I'm leaning towards ESO, but Black Desert Online looks good. I'm just worried about the monetization of that game.
Thanks for your insight

Do you have friends who would game with you?

Long time no see. My brother used to play Black Desert. It’s pretty P2W from what I hear. Combat and character creation are great, but nothing really to use the combat to it’s fullest. I’ve only played a few hours of ESO. It was for sure one of the better MMOs I have tried(I don’t really like MMOs) Basic combat is basically the same as a standard Elder Scrolls game, but then you also have a ton of abilities to use. Everything is voiced, so that’s already a big win in my book. Story after about 5ish hours was decent and interesting, but I got bored because I don’t really care about the MMO gameplay loop.

Editado por HiddenAlignment: 2/1/2020 3:34:58 PMHonestly, I don’t play many MMOs because I can’t find the right one for me, but one that’s really stuck with me is Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR). It has 8 unique classes with 2 subclasses and 3 combat types that lead into different abilities. Not to mention that each class has hours of different story content that I consider to be good. It also has a lot of customization options, both in appearance and in character personality, allowing you to be whatever you want to be. If you want to be a Sith Lord that secretly serves the light side with a black and purple lightsaber, you can (granted that the cool lightsaber colors are micro transactions). If you’re a Star Wars fan, I recommend this game because it expands on one of the coolest eras in Star Wars, and I heard that a TV show and movie about it is in production. I don’t consider it the best, but I think it’s pretty decent.
Fades Away
Ended my WoW subscription after the Blitzchung debacle. Haven't played ESO in years, but wouldn't mind going back. Heard a lot has changed. Ditto for Guild Wars 2. My friend really liked DC Online, but it never appealed to me so I've never tried it myself. Never tried Black Desert but I've heard good things. I've heard really mixed things about Skyforge or TERA. Been playing FFXIV pretty consistently for a little over 2 years now and still going strong.

BDO is good if you like PvP from what I hear. I couldn't get into ESO for some reason, but I trust it's good. FFXIV is my crack

By far ESO in my opinion. I love that game.

I’ve been playing a small amount of Eve online recently. Niche, hard to get started, but possibly worthwhile.

Final Fantasy 14 wins by a landslide. Pretty graphics, lots of special crossover events, good community. The Nier: Automata themed raid is one of the best gaming experiences you'll ever have. BDO is pretty, but the endgame boils down to you fighting a terrible RNG enhancement system to boost your character past the soft cap. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Editado por Uncanny_Vale: 1/31/2020 9:11:20 PMI tried playing BDO last year for a bit. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a super grind heavy pay to win game. There’s a whole lot of built in inconvenience and grind that pushes you towards buying quality of life improvements (like pets, inventory space, costumes etc). They have this thing called a value pack that alleviates a lot of the hassle that is essentially a subscription. Stick with ESO. It’s much better.

Editado por Psyntifik: 1/31/2020 6:35:39 PMWoW. It does have a few issues here and there depending on who you talk to, and a lot of people will cry that it changed its ways and they will cry for the WoW of the past. But the fact remains that it is fleshed out beyond any other game out there - with a colourful, varied and interesting world to be in at all levels. Being able to actually care about and recognise the world and characters you're interacting with is what really cemented Warcraft's footprint on gaming. It has grown to accommodate all players and playstyles, and interests with a heap of quests, collectable, dungeons, ranked dungeons, raids, easter eggs, Pokemon battles, achievements, PvP ranks, battlegrounds and arenas, there's level scaling to allow you to level in any order you please. There's also a multitude of starting races and classes with more to unlock as you progress. To make things better, it's completely free to have as many characters up to level 20 as you like. On top of that buying the latest expansion gives you complete access to every expansion before it, and a month's subscription (the 1 month sub might have been a limited time offer, I'm not sure). On top of that again, a subscription will give you complete access to WoW Classic servers, so you can see for yourself the WoW of old that plays considerably different.
Black Desert Online also sucks unfortunately. I was really excited about it for the combat, but the game is built around grinding and its just depressing.
