I’ve been saying this for quite a while now. I’d rather Bungie just focus on some new stuff entirely, and start fresh with a clean slate. At this point I’m ready for an entirely new experience. Let D2 go, it’s run it’s course, and just focus on D3.
Next gen console hardware should be able to provide them the tools to accommodate all the bells and whistles that they’re unable to add or fix currently, due to “technical limitations”.
As soon as they debuted the seasonal content model and I got a better understanding of what to expect and how it worked, I still preferred the old version of fewer larger dlc drops in the year and one major expansion instead of the smaller steady drip feed. It’s just more in line with my style. The content had more weight to it, felt more meaningful. Better narrative.
Even if there are larger droughts in between major dlc drops, it gives everyone the time to really get through it all and catch up.
They can still temper that with little events and such but there’s absolutely no need to give us another Menagerie type event every 3 months if it’ll just get replaced by the same damn thing again. All whilst relegating our earned gear (mainly armor) useless, only to force us to regrind all over again.
Can’t you see this cycle is unsustainable? It’s not gonna last. People don’t wanna feel like their efforts are cheapened or all for naught.
That’s exactly what’s happened.
It doesn’t respect the players time investment.
This Forbes article echoes that same sentiment. Paul Tassi has great articles, actually plays the game a lot and knows his shit. I’ve read his work many times, and this one hits the nail on the head.
Thoughts?

Seasonal model is garbage! We payed full price for the game. Just let us play it.
-
Their "technical limitations" were from their choices, by the way. Not the hardware. Far more impressive games run at 60fps on the Xbox One/PS4.
-
I prefer the two expansions a year method.
-
I approve this message. Two new armor sets every season is very lackluster.
One if you throw away Eververse
-
They need either more content within the seasons or shorter seasons if they are keeping this. Well, for me anyway.

They seperated themselves from Activi$ion because of how much strain it put on their company, yet they litterally act the same as Activi$ion right now. (look how the new CoD game handles monetization in comparaison) Destiny has the same monetization, FOMO exploitation and seasonal bs systems than -blam!-ing Fortnite and CoD. It's a damn shame. Destiny used to be special and unique and now they've streamlined it so that it resembles those prior-mentionned games and make all the $$ rather than striving to be something different. Something better. -
Yeah bring back the one big expansion a year model so that more people can come and whine about lack of content 2 weeks after launch. The only difference will be that the whining will continue for the rest of the year with no content.
-
The drip feed and seasonal shit sucks.
-
Yeeeee, dlc every 3 months WITH ENOUGH Content for 3 months, don't remove anything after seasons but keep previous activities relevant = win.
-
I think this drip feed thing is good, bungie just need to a implement it better, things like seasonal mods and seasonal armour need to go, disappearing content is just terrible. As for technical limitations, correct me if I’m wrong but at the end of a console lifecycle devs usually produce their best stuff, bungie’s issues are with their engine and terrible net code not our hardware.

Editado por Cosmic Owl: 1/25/2020 8:06:01 AMI don’t hate the seasonal model but things like 100 bright dust for paid track reward or legendary engram is just a big no from me. Also, there needs to be some substantial reward to work towards. One YTer mentioned a choice of one Eververse item. The second thing is the handling of Bastion was obviously really poorly done in relationship to the quest. And of course there needs to be some legit DLC at some point throughout the year. Preferably at least one big one and maybe a smaller one as well but bigger than what the season activities have been. But otherwise I don’t have an issue with the season passes. Getting ornaments, new armor, exotic engrams, new weapons, some bright dust and such. It’s all good imo.

Editado por Ricochet 049: 1/24/2020 5:31:16 AMThe thing that is sad for me is I am military and deployed often. I’ll be gone months at a time and this model ensures that I miss out on content. I’m sending this from my phone in Okinawa japan. I’ll be away from my console for a good long while as the MEU moves along.
-
Maybe if Season of the Undying didn’t exist we would get some better stuff.
-
Wait, you think D3 is a good idea? Hmm. I'm looking at the expansion of eververse from D1 to D2, and I'll be honest chief, if that expansion continues, D3 is just going to be Eververse: the throw money at the screen simulator.
-
Well shit, me and a few others said that would happen BEFORE Y3 even got off the ground? Does this mean I can work at Forbes too? Tassi is a fine standout from the wooden spoon brigade. Soon as they decide to bring back Mythoclast, Gjallarjorn or some other old D1 fav, he'll be right back on that ass kissing train as if this article never existed. Posting all on Twitter about bread acquired and shit "gg so glad to have a dev like Bungie who makes quality content."
-
I think the season pass idea is great. Bungie’s execution of the idea is crap. How the pay for season pass should work: 1 new nightfalls with new weapon 1 new strike with new weapon 3 new crucible maps 3 new exotic armor pieces 3 new exotic weapons (1-2 on quests) Bring up an old raid to current values and update those weapons and armor to 2.0. 1 new story line related to bringing up the old raid. Etc. Menagerie was and still is the best horde mode they made. Don’t know why they need a new horde mode every season.
-
Yes, it does.
-
I disagree. This is better than the literal nothing got between the release of Taken King and the April Update/The release of Rise of Iron and the age of triumph. In D1 this span of time had nothing.

Paul Tassi publishes empty click bait articles in order to make money and plug his own stuff almost on a daily basis. He knows Destiny fans thirst for any news about the game and he takes advantage. Perfect example was last week when he was ranking the Corridors of Time rewards. It’s not facts, it’s his opinion which then becomes the opinion of the more impressionable guardians of the community. All the posts on here about Vex Mythoclast. That was because of a Forbes article. That doesn’t make it general consensus. I think Bungie is learning lessons about hype and how it can cause backlash but it won’t do them any good because they aren’t the only people who benefit from hype. We all know what the real reward for last weeks puzzle was. Cash. If we paid less attention to these people then perhaps things wouldn’t get so salty. Bastion is shit but I’d rather that another returning exotic. I’m not saying Bungie are innocent, I’m just saying they aren’t the only guilty parties. I honestly don’t mind the way Destiny is now. I wouldn’t say it was a series low point. D1 content droughts were far worse in my opinion and seasonal mods disappearing encourages new builds and makes certain weapons and armor more relevant in different seasons which keeps things fresh. My new Sci-Fi novella is available on audible.

You missed the bit where the entire studio is working on the new non destiny game that's dropping in 2024. That's bungies next release, NOT D3. There's several pointers and comments saying this, even small things like crucible is a long term vision, or gambit will lose a mode but not this year, maybe not even next, or the whiteboard showing a 7year plan for D2, or playstation releasing new light as a brand new game and the store saying game size updated every October (they get the info from the Dev). D2 is here for a good few years yet, it's a money vehicle to see them to their next game in 2024, basic business model. Also player numbers are very solid so this seasonal model works better than anything they've done before, so it's also not going anywhere.
-
I don't like the seasonal model, battle passes, and anything else associated with 'games as a service'. I'm not going to pretend to know how hard people have to work on this content, whether it's necessary for Bungie to stay afloat, or any of the other tropes people (including me) have used to shit on the game. I just plain prefer a good DLC 6 months to a year for a couple years and then a new game release. I reject the FOMO, the microtransactions, paying seasonally, etc.

Yeah, I want to come back and enjoy Destiny but I just dont care for this seasonal ish. People have been repetitive in what they want and it falls upon seemingly dead ears. If a worker at a job gets repeated counsel for the same issue time and time again, what eventually happens? And it's happening now, slowly but surely. Some indeed love it and that's great. It comes down to what's more important as a business, keeping the current satisfied customers, or earning the business of those that have lost interest. I dont know the statistics, but more and more people are voicing complaints and this worries me. I'm glad the game sold well but I'm saddened by it's seemingly large increase in dissatisfaction.
-
that is damn lie the season system works
-
I like it, there's always something to do.
-
Thing is, this is Bungo. They see all the negative feedback around this seasonal model....and they will ignore it. In fact, they will go further. They will double down on the seasonal model. (I don't think we'll see a D3 for at least another 20 months, possibly 34, possibly never. In other words, we have a least a D2Y4 to not look forward too. If you all thought Shadowkeep was worthless chuff from a dev that is driven solely by greed, then imagine how light on content and lacking in fun a Y4 would be.)
