So in 11th grade 2018-2019 we got iPad pros which everyone loved at the thought of it and the school thought it would help us all better ourselves and remove the use of paper and pencil. Well what a -blam!-ing load of horse shit that was.
The iPad pros would barely ever submit work to Canvas (a app were we turn work in) and that was my major problem, well I failed a few classes both -blam!-ing semesters because of the issue. Me and my dad talked to the Counselors and they never did anything nor did they even try to help out they just said "screenshot it" and my dad said "he shouldn't have to screenshot it, he should be able to submit it once and be done with it. I'm relying on my sons future on your bugged technology" and well they never did anything about it so there I go failed Junior year and I am a junior again since last semester and now all my friends are seniors (well some of them)
TECHNOLOGY SHOULD NOT BE IN SCHOOLS EXCEPT COMPUTERS AND THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE
So idk if I will be able to finish Edgenuity these next 2 months and graduate 2020 because counselors are too -blam!-ing lazy and won't compensate for their technologies -blam!- ups.

Editado por michael: 1/24/2020 8:08:23 PMMy school is more or less half and half, a lot of our take home type assignments are done on google classroom but any tests and quizzes and exams are still done on paper and formal essays are to be printed and handed in. All technology for everything in school sounds awful.

Spread this news around town if you can, I think getting some publicity on this would change your school’s stupid tech
You should be able to take some form of a recourse. Have you tried contacting district workers, or maybe setting up a meeting with your school principal? To clarify; a meeting on your terms.
^Wyoming

You know, we had this issue with computers back in my day. We all carried around floppy disks & had to save, save, save constantly. Screenshotting it was an excellent idea. I even do that myself for important things I need to keep a hold of, when my bosses send me a threatening message or a new "rule" goes up & I have to cover my ass. Should any of that have to be your responsibility? No, but at the same time, you are responsible for your future, so why would you trust anyone else?

School is evil.

Strange. I use canvas and I don't have issues. Granted, they tell me to use a computer and not the mobile app.
-
I mean, it sounds like it worked for some people, or at least they found a way to compensate.
-
My school changed from the free, easy to use google classroom to expensive canvas

It sucks that you got held back, but if you could put me in touch with whoever made the genius decision to buy a bunch of iPad Pros for high schoolers, I have recently come into the possession of several bridges that I am interested in selling to him or her. I will even give you 10% of the profit as a finder's fee.

My community college uses blackboard and good lord it's a nightmare. Worst user interface I have ever used
-
Imo it depends on the subject. Same with the app needed.
I use Notability, and that works fine for me.
Gotta love Canvas. (Source: Use it too)

The tech is old, yes they may have gotten them in 2018, but schools get OLD stuff on discount... IE: my schools 2008 logi tech mouses that don’t function and the 2013 windows 5 computers that were modified for windows 7, then 10...

I agree; I prefer writing, not using an iPad to submit work, and to do work. To me, paper is easier, and I have good, and fast hand writing. Which is why I always asks my teacher if I can do it on paper.

In conclusion school is dumb
-
Canvas is from hell. That’s your problem there.
-
Agreed. My school uses up-to-date, mandated Chromebooks, which work flawlessly. iPads just seem like a nightmare to use for school work.
