I Miss the Destiny 1 Year 1 Loot System

Remember when legendaries were actually rare and exotics weren't just given to players for small tasks? When rare weapons were the legendaries of Destiny 1 compared to Destiny 2 and weapons of rare or uncommon types could roll with random perks? When on top of this, there was more variety with what you could obtain from all sorts of activities, including rare gear? When Vanguard and Crucible vendors offered different loot than from the activities themselves? When there was more variety in perks like Luck in the Chamber, Who's Next, Secret Round, Surplus, Life Support and more that could roll on almost every random-roll weapon? Those were the days. I remember jumping for joy when I saw a random enemy drop a legendary engram and sad when it was armor for a different class (wasn't a fan of that). I also remember making players mad when I beat them with Vex Mythoclast and a Plug One.1 with the broken Double Down perk (broken at the time). I got a few angry messages about using "Double Fusions". Good times. Unfortunately I doubt Destiny 2 will offer another experience like that anytime soon. Maybe if they had gotten a little bit more crazy with the weapon system at launch, we would've had something like that.

  • Ever since the beginning of D2 I've been saying that legendary items need to be Legendary. They should not be given out like cheap Halloween candy. Most of our equipment should be Rare with a smattering of Legendary. For the life of me I can't understand why they kept giving us purples over and over again. In vanilla D2 having fixed rolls on weapons just added insult to injury. Now with Armor 2.0 most stats on legendary armor just don't make any of the drops worth it. Oh, look, 15 in Recovery. How friggin amazing. All Legendary armor should drop very, very infrequently and have one (or two) high stat. All Legendary weapons should have a higher drop rate than what I'm suggesting.
