Dang it! Had this sort of idea for my hunter when i finally figure him out xD I'd be willing to help you though. Will post at my lunch break as best i can.
Edit: so in rereading your post, I'm not entirely sure if my guardians could be of service.
Kaya, my Warlock, wakes up in Germany (not saying where cus i want that to be hinted in her story) after the first Crota fire team, though she did arrive there sometime from mid dark age to early city age. Perhaps she could mention some of the things at that time?
My hunter is planned to have fought on Mare Imbtium, woke up sometime late dark age to early city age.

That might be a bit early for Kaya, but my hunter could definitely work for you here. Still need to figure out some things about him though. Alright, so he lost a close friend on the moon, this being a while after he has kinda become more and more isolated, prone to rage, but ultimately still thinking clearly more often than not. So he is still a bit raw, good oportunity for him to learn to trust others and work in groups again. As a character, he is a male human hunter, blade dancer. He is more of a trapper than a recon specialist. Does a lot of sabotouge and the like. Good with tinkering on mechanical things, crafting and placing booby traps, the sort of but you dont want to chase cus he would lead you into various snares and have several weapons on his person to counter you. Experienced given his age. Tries to be prepared but very adaptable as the situation demands. Leaning towards quiet, but confident when he talks. Still need to figure out his name...
