D3 PvPvE Patrol Idea & How It Could Work

This post is related to the leaks that have been getting some attention lately. I know I’m a bit late to this, but I really wanted to make this post. I’m not saying that I agree/disagree with these leaks, but they have got me thinking. What if we could choose between Light and Darkness? If we could, it would have to be a permanent choice and not some sort of Subclass. I’ve been thinking about how this could tie into the other leak: PvPvE Patrol Zones. This is a very intriguing idea in my perspective. It could go well, or it could go terribly. So, I decided to come up with my own idea. I’m not saying that I think this idea is going to be implemented, I just think that this would be a cool thing to see. Map Layout First, one of the most important factors for this. The map layout. I’d like to divide the map into zones: 1,2,3,4 and 5 Zones 1 & 5 Zones 1 and 5 work the exact same way, but for both sides (Light and Darkness). These zones are the safe havens. They are small, but they are filled with important things, such as vendors and quest givers. There are no enemies that can enter here. Zones 2 & 4 Again, they are the same for both factions. These zones mostly focus on the PvE side. They contain your basic activities that you would find in normal Patrol Zones, such as public events, that give you rewards to turn into your vendors. It is possible for enemy guardians to enter these areas, but I’ll talk about that later. Zone 3 This zone is at the center. It is the focus of PvP. A battleground filled with obstacles and cover. You could also accept patrols that require you to kill enemy guardians. This zone also serves as a bridge to the other zones with public events, which brings me to the next factor: Zone Infiltration and PvP In order to infiltrate zone 2 or 4, you have to defeat powerful enemies that guard the entrances. Think of something similar to Queen Corsairs with health bars and high damage. You can’t simply run past these guards and get to the other side, you HAVE to kill them. But you also have to worry about the enemy guardians who are also trying to kill you. The best way to do this is to work together with ally guardians. Once you do that and enter the other side, you will have 10 minutes to grief the people in that zone by preventing them from completing public events and patrols by killing them. If you die, you are sent back to your side of Zone 3. The same thing happens when the timer runs out. This is to prevent any skillful player from infiltrating for too long and making the PvE side miserable for everyone. Rewards and Goal Players can accept bounties to get rewards and powerful gear. The overall all goal is to turn in as many resources as you can within a certain time period. The side with the most resources turned in wins an exclusive powerful weapon, or maybe a special exotic. Everyone plays a part in this goal. The PvE players stay in their zone and grind their stuff to help everyone get to their overall goal: The Powerful Item. The PvP players can either defend their PvE players by preventing others from infiltrating, or they can try to infiltrate the other zone to prevent the other side from getting resources. Anyway, that’s just my idea. Again, not saying that I think this is what we are going to see, I’m just saying that I think this would be a cool thing to see.
