Many of you have your heart in the right place and believe these multi million dollar companies need to add new revenue streams to survive modern game development, but the numbers just don't fit that narrative.
Let's look at some numbers shall we?
Destiny 2's publisher's (Activision) total assets are worth $17.452 billion.

Not sure what Destiny 2's developer (Bungie) is worth, but just their website is estimated to be worth 91,000,000.

The lowest paid Bungie software designer makes $80,000.

Hell Bobby Kotick (Activision's CEO) is worth $2,000,000,000 by himself. How many engrams you think he's bought?

This company doesn't need Eververse to feed themselves. It's purely greed.

With the amount of eververse posts on here looks like the team have another shit storm to come back to. Keep it going, I’m on the fence with this one I don’t really care that much, I just want a better gaming experience if profits went into furthering the game and making it better I could easily choose a side. But I also believe that individuals have a right to choose how to spend their money irrespective of what we may think.

Just popping in to remind you all, you deserve this

You have to understand that Eververse is a bad concept for the consumer. Seriously, regardless that many of you defend it by saying "it is only cosmetic" and "you don't have to buy stuff" and "it makes no difference to the game" or better yet "And this concerns you why?" is a weak defense and the brain dead mentality Bungie wants. The nicer and better items they are creating for eververse could have been content in the RNG for the players in game. This would have eliminated they constant repetitive items you get by having more items in it to begin with. Instead they decided to squeeze people for just a little more money. Bungie stayed in a nice grey area and avoided what SWBF had to go through with loot crates. Many of you will sing a different tune when eververse adds weapons and other actual useful items in it's stock. Then it will truly be a full fledged pay to win game. Imagine you are in PVP and getting your butt handed to you by some newbie with weapons and gear that they bought in eververse. You "defenders" of eververse will be the first to cry about it then. Just watch. It's coming.

It's ironic that the micro-transactions were originally explained as funding the regular live events such as the Dawning....when in reality most of those events simply revolve around selling Eververse look anyway! Pay us money so we can craft a different event where you pay us more money....
-
f anyone tries to make the generic argument that "It's just cosmetic" I would like for you to silence your dull little whale of a mind for just one moment and watch a video. https://www.youtube.com/wat... Jim Sterling does a great job explaining why this whole "It's Just Cosmetic." is a just a bull shit farce. Part of the reason you play a game is to get cool shit and getting this cool shit is normally obtained from playing the game. When you lock that "cool shit" behind a pay wall you are playing a cash cow simulator with the purpose to use this "cool shit" to abuse the loyal players of a game. Also some of the items from these engrams aren't just cosmetic. There are ghost shells and sparrows that have advantages to them that other ghost shells and sparrows don't have. These items actually make certain things easier to obtain such as glimmer or engram drops. Blizzard/Activision are putting a slow burn with their microtransactions unlike EA did with Battlefront where they tossed all their bull shit out on launch. Look boxes are a disease and the more attention you bring to its bull shit the better outcome for the consumers.

So for everyone upset about eververse .... We have been heard... @cgbarrett, Chris Barrett who runs the live team tweeted about the the dev team looking at eververse , it also mentioned wanting the players to feel ‘respected’ . Either our combined whining has got their attention or they finally noticed after Star Wars they are the number 2 target of the media. I would hope by season 3 we will either see this crap scaled back in some way or changed to make it less dominant in game . But let’s not get complacent about this , it needs to change and hopefully we can shape that process .

Greed? as in profitable business sure we see it as a shit business practice but Activision is in it primarily to make money and expand their business and net worth year after year. Hell our government politicians are on more than a quarter a mill for life even once retired The company I work for made 800 mill profit last finacial year primarily by increasing consumer costs but is also reinvesting close to 3/4 of those earnings into renewable energy plant and r&d the rest? Likely lines the coffers of the GM and board of directors and other key stakeholders.

Activisions earnings show that 47% of their revenue comes from base sales and 53% comes from subscription services (microtransactions). Does anybody really think they are going to rid or tone down the higgest earning portion of their business? Listen, I hate how eververse has been woven throughout D2 as the main focal point. If they focused more attention, effort and resources on building a sound quality game then they have with there micro-store then eververse would hardly be an issue. Along with the poor execution and poor decisions they made have had a tremendous impact on player morale. If I could hop on D2 and truly feel like I got a gamers game or the Destiny we always thought we were gonna get while having fun, feeling challenged and having good desirable rewards that I could earn by playing then I would care less about eververse. But thats exactly where Bungie went wrong and have brought all this negative attention upon themselves. This is merely an issue because D2 as a whole feels very incomplete especially from where D1 ended off and all the functionalities we grew fond of. Their execution was all wrong and the decision making behind many changes and concepts in the game have only compounded the issue. Let's be real, Eververse is staying but if Bungie can figure out a way to incorporate it without crossing the line or alienating the quality of the game and actually build up the game to a healthy spot then it would be much less bothersome.

D1 Eververse was fine. I don’t mind Bungie making money of microtransactions. However, if the Eververse breaks the game as a result of focussing too much on microtransactions or by implementing a “pay-to-win” system, I’m forced to quit the game. Which is the current state of the game. I’m also against loot boxes as it promotes gambling. Any game supporting loot boxes should be rated 21+ to protect developing minds. As I’ve said before, no more pre-orders for Bungie

Editado por HurtfulTurkey: 12/23/2017 8:43:07 AMI'd like to see Bungie and any other devs out there using lootboxes consider the idea of making a game that is fully funded and profitable after paying $60 for the game. What a crazy idea, right? So, if your budget is X, the expected sales is Y, and X is higher than Y, then lower the budget to make it equal. But they don't care, because this game has been out for months and they've surely made hundreds of thousands of dollars off microtransactions. So they can roll back the eververse, give players access to that content through gameplay, etc., because they made their money already. The endgame of Destiny 2 is literally designed to force you to purchase bright engrams.

So? Don't use it if you don't want to. So no.

And btw the dlc was trash i mean we got a skinned vex and what a vage story ffs, i bet the second expansion will give you another raid in the same place cause just look at it they saved the place for it already ... When we played the dlc i felt like someone stole my money and laughed in my face Shame on the devs for this...
-
Signed. Not based on Bungivision's $, but because eververse is clearly impacting the quality of the rest of the game.
-
What the numbers tell me is this. Easy money leads to an inferior product. D2 is more than proof of that. Why would you commit resources to developing a quality game when you can cash in with an average game that at the end of the day has a casino attached to it? The more we feed the horse like this, the more the product will become sh^t...bank on that! Make these guys earn their check! Never preorder anything and for gods sake quit buying this crap which only makes their jobs easier and our game cheaper.

-
I quit destiny after con of Osiris. This just makes me never want to come back. Any game that you pay 60 bucks for should not have items that are attainable only through loot box finger crossing. If they had just allowed bright engrams to pull from the dawning loot table people wouldn't be rioting. If they wanted to pull this crap then they shouldn't have priced the game at 60 bucks.
-
Capitalism. It’s kind of a thing.
-
Idk what this is supposed to mean? That companies who are bankrupt are better at making video games? Thats worked for crytek! That they dont need to male money? We live in a capitalistic world where success is based of the accumulation of wealth. Until we stop capitalism we deff cant stop companies from taking advantage of us or being greedy.

I spend $80K on my morning coffee
