#Remove Eververse: Activision Blizzard has $17.452 billion in total assets.

Many of you have your heart in the right place and believe these multi million dollar companies need to add new revenue streams to survive modern game development, but the numbers just don't fit that narrative. Let's look at some numbers shall we? Destiny 2's publisher's (Activision) total assets are worth $17.452 billion. https://www.forbes.com/companies/activision-blizzard/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2017/2/9/14568722/activision-blizzard-2016-earnings-record Not sure what Destiny 2's developer (Bungie) is worth, but just their website is estimated to be worth 91,000,000. https://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/bungie.net/ The lowest paid Bungie software designer makes $80,000. https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Bungie-Salaries-E284423.htm Hell Bobby Kotick (Activision's CEO) is worth $2,000,000,000 by himself. How many engrams you think he's bought? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2013/4/26/4272696/activision-bobby-kotick-highest-paid-ceos-65-million-salary This company doesn't need Eververse to feed themselves. It's purely greed.

  • Three months was all Bungie needed to destroy their reputation, nearly two decades old worth, and told the Destiny community what they 'really' thought of them. (insert piggy bank gif at your leisure) and manufactured a full-scale mutiny on a sinking ship. The players tried to keep Destiny 2 and Bungie afloat, but as they dumped one bucket of water out, Bungie dumped two back in. Now, this isn't completely Bungie's fault. People have failed to mention the "Big Bad" of this story enough. Activision. So, let's start at the beginning. We all heard about the massive, elephant in the room, contract between Activision and Bungie. An organic and evolving 10 years with a price tag of 500 million dollars, marketing aside. Destiny came out the gate strong. An excellent marketing campaign backed by Bungie's name, sent droves of gamers to the tower daily, but something was amiss. The game didn't feel complete, and honestly, it wasn't. But that's another story. Two DLC's in and people were panicking. Activision surely was unimpressed, but Bungie had kept an ace up its sleeve. TTK. And it was a homerun. The expansion added more story, missions, context, multi-faceted exotic missions. It had it all, and Rise of Iron showed that Bungie had finally hit its stride. The SIGNS were there already, a foreshadowing of what was to come, but we were all lost in a world of shiny engrams. The way Destiny 1 handled its DLC and the TTK was just the beginning. People paying for DLC twice, charging nearly the cost of a full price game for an expansion left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth, but we overlooked it because of one thing. Trust. Bungie had our trust. Something that can't be bought, only earned. But the signs were there. Eververse was tacked on at the end of Destiny 1 life cycle as if it were a last-minute add-on. It wasn't. This was an experiment, or rather, testing the water of sorts for a complete takeover by microtransactions. But, why you and I wonder. Well, it is simple. Activision. They became nervous when Destiny 1 floundered, although it was saved by an excellent expansion, it was a little too close for comfort for Activision. They couldn't simply sit around and let this happen again. What if Bungie doesn't have another ace up their sleeve. The long-term business model of 10 years or more had to be ditched in favor of a model that was more generous to their fiscal year. So, he we are. Destiny 2 has been a PR train wreck. Players have left by the millions. The ones who are sticking it out or genuinely enjoy this game have become a target. XP throttling. This wasn't a mistake. The mistake was they didn't hide it better. They got caught. That was the mistake. What about all the people that paid money to eververse any order to acquire bright dust to purchase fireteam medallions that are supposed to give you more XP for every kill and event completed? Surely, the XP Throttle System affected this as well. Any refunds offered to them? The Osiris DLC wasn’t worth the price of admission, but it wasn't complete either, I'm willing to concede. The community had tasted all Destiny 2 had to offer, and Bungie couldn't risk more player falloff, so they shipped the DLC early to get players who had left as reason to return and players who had stay, the illusion there is so much more to do. The final insult: THE DAWNING: This entire event was pre-planned. Bungie will offer excuses, promises, standard comments that they are listening to our feedback. This isn't true. The event was released as a microtransaction driven cash grab, and the timing of its release was done on purpose as well, because the holidays are here, and it won't be until after the first of the year before Bungie jumps back into marketing mode and by then the fires will have died down. The anger over this will be hopefully gone. The holidays and the new year and all the extravagance that comes with it is being used to mull the community into a sense of new beginning for this game, but you best prepare yourself for more of the same.

          • Q4 (Quarter 4, 2014) Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Q1 Q2 Q3 (Quarter 3,2017) Net Revenues by Distribution Channel for Activision (In Millions) Digital online channels Activision 1 $539 $581 $569 $629 $724 $926 $1,141 $1,344 $1,454 $1,386 $1,309 $1,354 I got this info by googling Activision Blizzard Financial Statement. They’re public traded company on the market so it’s all available. Above are their quarterly reports. As you can see what Activision is doing is totally sustainable from quarter to quarter in terms of digital online Revenue (not sure if this is just in game micro transactions or what all encompasses digital online channels...BUT. The profits are going up as well Quarter to Quarter (Q1,2014 - Q3, 2017) Since the inception of Destiny 1 til now. Now if the population did drop, we should see some sort drop in the revenue here for Quarter 4, 2017, assuming the percentage of player base buying micro transactions is linear to total player base population. If this is the case we might be in for an overhaul of the game. But if there isn’t a drop in revenue for Q4, 2017 There’s no reason or incentive for them to pull back and change anything they are doing with their game. Bungie should slap an M on the box and tell you kids to STFU. Oh no, a business that has money is making more money😱 Don’t like it don’t buy it. This goes for both Eververse and Destiny.

                • You people have no concept of business. Assets don’t pay bills lol. Revenue does. I bet that Activison probably has 3 times it’s assets leveraged into debt lol. You people are cry babies that apparently want Bungie to go bankrupt. Would not shock me if after this next DLC the Destiny franchise is abandoned for other projects. Then you all can go cry on EA forums.

                    • I see a lot of people are upset. I can't really figure out why Tess is the target of the bundle hate mob. For everything that is wrong with a game, you choose to sight in on players who buy shaders? Nothing bought in the eververse gives anyone a leg up on the game. This is different from most games, that paying more can actually give you items that make you more powerful than players who only buy the game. So you're angry that a kid can cry and get his dad to spend $5 on a shader pack, or a sparrow? Sure, it is the company bleeding it's customer base for every penny. Are you afraid of you don't have a shader that is for sale you're not a die hard d2 fan? Is it that you do not have the ability to say no to extra pay content? I don't really like the eververse, but in the end I just don't but anything from there. Crazy, huh.

Cloths must go.... I mean you have to buy them, then wash them so they stay clean and by washing and wearing them they wear out forcing you to buy more cloths.... what a scam. Oh..... and houses, don't get me started on houses.......

You clearly don’t know how public companies work . Just because they are “worth” that much it doesn’t mean they have that much money. Most public companies worth is calculated from debt and speculation from investors, assets are also tangible and intangible values owned by different parts of the company ,hence why they’re need to get more money from things like etc Eververse or else their debt /capital ratio goes way off.

                              • So because a company is successful and has a healthy revenue stream, there just supposed to shut one down because of some kid whining about not having a seasonal armor shader? You do realize this is first and foremost a business, and in business your in it to make money. And their #1 priority is to the stock holders of their company. I own shares in the compay, and watched them grow in a short time from 19 dollars a share to trading at around 65 today. And their potential earnings are very good. If this were a non profit company, you'd have a point. But it's not, and when your competition like Electronic Arts is hot on your heals, you need to do things to stay ahead and not go under. Trust me that 80k a year developer you mentioned (and if you think that's fair compensation for a developer, your sadly mistaken) isn't interested in loosing his livelihood because some kids can't afford 1.99 for a shader and wants a micro transaction system gone. Heck, you ever stop to think that the only reason that stuff is in game is because it's paid for by micro transactions? Careful what you wish for, they could take Eververse away, and all of its goodies with it.

If this company wasn't so greedy and they respected their player base none of this Hog Wash would be happening. There is no excuse not to be reasonable when creating events like this and then they play stupid as if this cash grab wasn't intended? I can't believe how gullible gamers are today especially with the lying about.... EX twice The "bug" the gun had 30C Hog Wash Hiding info from DT because they were called out on how their player base is plummeting Blocking refunds Creating a huge paywall before this thing they call an expansion was released. (The only reason) and it is a fact that it was revert was because gamers were getting a refund. This cash grab event that it is impossible to even come close to acquire half the rewards without buying and the grind for them was tripled. Not only that, dismantling cosmetics are an insult when it comes to silver dust after buying them and some only give you glimmer? The screwed up thing is about all this, this company isn't done lying to their player base face and a lot of you are like, it's okay Bungie, i'm your doormat. Go ahead and walk all over me, I trust you when you say sorry it was a mistake even though all this happened in one freaking month and will continue to happen. WTH is wrong with some of you gamers. Does someone need to kick you in the face to get a clue and wake you the hell up? I am so glad i'm not a doormat and that I speak up. The gamers that keep saying it's okay to keep lying to us are the problem with the gaming world today. It's actually sad how many gamers are actually this far gone.

Let's look at some numbers shall we? Destiny 2's publisher's (Activision) total assets are worth $17.452 billion. https://www.forbes.com/companies/activision-blizzard/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2017/2/9/14568722/activision-blizzard-2016-earnings-record Not sure what Destiny 2's developer (Bungie) is worth, but just their website is estimated to be worth 91,000,000. https://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/bungie.net/ The lowest paid Bungie software designer makes $80,000. https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Bungie-Salaries-E284423.htm Hell Bobby Kotick (Activision's CEO) is worth $2,000,000,000 by himself. How many engrams you think he's bought? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2013/4/26/4272696/activision-bobby-kotick-highest-paid-ceos-65-million-salary This company doesn't need Eververse to feed themselves. It's purely greed.
