The problem is that most people can't separate their nostalgia for when the world seemed like a simpler place or they had a fresh experience with Destiny/Destiny 2 and can't accept whether the game is objectively better by any measure. Just for the record I "don't play" because I got tired of having to customize every activity every day and just stopped bothering, I think the Portal is a decent system in theory but still needs some tweaking.
