Problems with knowing the drop rates is it can kill motivation more than not seeing them even if the odds are the same your brain thinks "Maybe this run will be the one" which can keep you playing longer and we all know that player engagement metrics>player satisfaction at Bungie

I see... well since a lot of people know the drop rates are 2% according to dataminers, it would make perfect sense if they incrased it to 15% than lead people on it's gonna be rewarding.
-
Unfortunately datamined≠available Take War Thunder for example wher there's many planes and tanks etc etc are in the files but not in the game And yes 15% would be crazy good because after +40 raid and dungeon clears without the exotic drop isn't fun anymore

yeah it's karking miserable and I blame bungie for encouraging this predatory behavior.
-
Well retention is fine as long as it's not exploitative but Bungie being Bungie with player engagement > player satisfaction rule
yeah it's karking miserable and I blame bungie for encouraging this predatory behavior.
A random drop is not predatory.

Remember when Bungie throttled certain perk combination on tinasha's mastery? Players just grinded normally expecting fair odds but the system got throttled artificially and with that it did exploited player's effort and persistence while creating frustration and pressure to keep playing and that's core of predatory mechanics even if technically random RNG can be predatory if the system is designed that way and tinasha's mastery is a great example
