Had some notifications indicating that a couple of people had liked one of my comments here as recently as two weeks ago, so not sure if they were searching for their own solution, etc. That said, I ultimately discovered that you can actually open a ticket to appeal a forced name change. It did take some time to be processed (a couple of weeks or more), but my name was reinstated. Because no notes were included with the case, it's impossible to say if my name was flagged by a player, a moderation tool or something else entirely. Ultimately, it was resolved to my satisfaction, and I assume whatever the catalyst was for the change has been addressed to ensure others don't experience this same trouble.
