Nothing is closing. Renegades is ready to go live. Worst case scenario there will be no new content after that but the game will remain playable just like D1 still is. But we will "worry" about it come summer.

Unless Sony closes the studio in which case its lights out both D1 and D2 as they won't wanna keep the costs of maintaining the servers for the games.

The costs are fairly minimal. Otherwise B would have shut down D1 ages ago.
