Unless a player has 200 melee, a single melee attack can't kill at -30 Delta, meaning I've got to spend multiple melees to get the kill, or warming the enemy up/killing them off, which really reduces the Exotic's Utility
You dont need to last hit with the needle. It applies a mark to the enemy that will release a suspend aoe if they die while marked. And afaik more marks mean bigger suspend aoe. So high melee stat really isn't worth investing in imo.

I dig it, but that still means I'm using a lot of resources for either multiple melees, or a single melee and a lot of gunfire to get a small Suspend. It just doesn't feel very satisfying the way it's currently balanced.

I get the sentiment. It's probably been my most used warlock exotic since TFS and I haven't used it too much recently bc the artifact has suspend on tangle creation that overlaps with it too much. It's definitely way better on prismatic where you have no competing sources of suspend and you actually can use the triple needle part reliably in transcendence. On top of the fact that transcendence really favors melee ability related effects over grenade ones. (And the anti barrier part is nice when it one shots idk if it does in -30 stuff) But yeah that suspend aoe size could use a buff.

Edytowany przez użytkownika jhermannITJ: 11/5/2025 3:22:29 AMThat's its one saving grace... I agree Prismatic and anti-barrier on the melee. But it's still squishy. I've used it a lot too. I think now it's little better with the nade loop with the glove mods. That's what I aim to figure out once I get the 3.0 drop I want. I'm using a 2.0... right now, the split is wonky I don't like it. But I'm going to minmax it, combine it with Helion or Stasis turrets and see if I can push it.

Edytowany przez użytkownika jhermannITJ: 11/5/2025 2:48:03 AMIt's the additive melee stat. Consecration ****ed over locks. If it was 65% it would be better. If uncharged melees worked there would be potential with Glaives because that turns the dial up even more being able to combo Weapons and Melee. But it's about uptime... and how squishy you are. It's better than Fealty... I will say that. To add: I haven't abandoned Mata entirely... I'm grinding for a 3.0 replacement just in case. But it's mid... when you consider all the opposition, and CC potential with lock... it's mid. Like, you'd be better off... running shackle now for better efficacy and uptime. Here's something though... Sometimes the game can tell, sometimes it can't. For example... if I run Getaway with 200 grenade... and you go through my rift... you get a 200 grenade arc buddy. However if I run Well with 200 super only the caster gets those weapon benefits. If you ran Mata... Alongside a lock with DoT on suspend? Doubtful... but maybe. A buddy build with no turrets, lol. It would be cool. 2nd Edit: The second factor holding back most melee builds in PvE save a few... Is the armor archetype issue. You can run Paragon. That's it. Brawler secondary is Health. It's hard to get high Melee. Not that Super + Melee isn't viable with those 3 kits... the augments for each class. Conscraction, Surge, and Tempest... You'd run surge on lock is my point. Mata needs a more well-rounded kit AND high melee... you can't get it because of Brawler. I think there needs to be a new archetype with Melee as the primary. Tactician or Engineer. Melee Grenade... is what I would want. But I'd be happy with Melee Class. Then you could run like a gunner melee piece... a paragon piece, you could achieve a more well-rounded split across all your stats and still hit 200 melee. It works for those other 3 kits... because Melee Super ARE those kits. Watch any Consecration vid... or Tempest, or Surge. That's all you do. Tempest mixes in ascension... but 60/70 class will work.
