Yeah, it's mid... I wouldn't call it trash though.
I'm still working on it, to be sure.
It's the same for Fealty on Hunter... it's mid.
Alot of these dedicated Melee exotics don't do very well in harder PvE content.
Like the Hunter glaive kit. It's mid.
With the new Lock exotic though you get AoE DoT from all your weapons and 90% DR.

Mataiodoxia being mid by your own classification is wild because it’s one of the few Melee Exotics that should do well and does do well. Many Melee exotics function by requiring melee kills. This is inherently bad because unless you spec heavily into survival, you’re going to be killed. The melee exotics that are functionally good are the ones that don’t require a melee kill to activate its function. This being things like Synthos, which is based on being surrounded, Wormgod, which needs you to kill things with other tools and then use the melee to do a wallop of damage, or Mataiodoxia which just transforms Arcane Needle into a utility tool. On top of this, Arcane Needle circumvents the range issue, meaning you stay out of danger, and is benefited by having a 100 Melee stat. Anything higher is useless.

Edytowany przez użytkownika jhermannITJ: 11/5/2025 4:06:24 AMI'm not Bore... no offense, I do not think it's trash. I've used it alot. But there's probably 10 lock kits I'd put above it. So, it's mid. I've talked it up a bit... I do like the anti-barrier unstoppable utility of them on Prismatic. To add: And I like niche exotics... I'm motivated by getting the most horsepower out of everything. But Mata... is still kinda mid vs. your other options. I just put together an Axion kit... use that with 200 nade, over 100 super... and tell me Mata isn't mid. Use Enoria sp? Threadling on Pheonix Dive and tell me Mata isn't mid. The Stacy Chest piece? Coldsnaps with the Gloves? Getaway on Arc with Sentry? Apotheosis? Should I keep going. The arc boots? Inmost Syntho Lightning Surge? Inmost Stareater? I'm sure I could come up with 3 more at least, that's off the top of my head. Swarmers... that's another one. The Hive helmet with the nade changes. That's 11 though, lol. Unfortunately, and I like the exotic... Mata is mid.

Ok, but saying it’s Mid is disingenuous. Mata is good, but it isn’t op. For what Mata does and how it plays, it does its job REALLY WELL. But, there a builds that are better than that. These builds are of course OP. There is also the factor of how Mata plays and the role it fulfills, and Mata, for this reason, is wholly unique. It brings Suspend to Prismatic Warlock. Very very few tools are able to do that. And Mata is the best at what it does. The new exotic coming out will bring suspend too, but the suspend will not be nearly as widespread as Mata. What you’re doing is comparing a Utility vs a Power exotic/build. Mata is Utility. It’s not meant to be able to just “kill things” but instead provide a host of benefits that will make the game easier and/or more engaging to play. Power exotics just want to kill stuff.

Edytowany przez użytkownika jhermannITJ: 11/6/2025 5:22:08 AMI didn't mean it as an insult. Weaver's Trance is the core benefit of the new helmet, imo. Aoe Kinetic DoT on every final blow with any weapon. And it heals you, then 90% DR. Blind too, because 4-piece Teschec sp? makes sense. You don't need Smoke Jumper with your 3 charge 90% DR button. Warlocks won. I'm still excited for the Hunter Boots. I still like and use Mata... but it could be buffed a little.
