Honestly, & I've seen every bungie trick in the book, I've felt for a while that they'll announce some banger future plans, a state of the game with promises of a future, just something to reinforce confidence in the franchise BUT it's gone on too long now & the game is literally dying in real time, daily - thousands stop playing - & their silence is deafening. They aren't even doing little things like intentionaly dropping leaks of renegades, or tweeting mystery nonsense to get people talking.
Content creators are all flying out today to go somewhere & whilst I'd hope it's to bungie to play renegades & then start hyping it up this month, it's more likely they've gone to Activision to play black ops 7 - plus renegades was played last week by NDA testers & leaks say it's simply 'very buggy & not very good' & Devs were upset by the feedback (again).
I think 3 things stand out as very worrying.
1) the mass player loss, it's now snowballing almost like you feel like you're being left behind if you stay & play, no one wants to be last on the ship - the internet isn't positive about destiny & when the skump truly starts it usually keeps going to the end so despite how bad it is now, potentially it's getting worse.
2) the silence is deafening. Maybe they're saying nothing because they've nothing to say, maybe there is no future plans, maybe Sony havent agreed budget yet bcoz of how bad it all looks.
3) All the marathon pre order bonuses are marathon themed items in destiny, going live in January, sparrow, ship, ghost, emblem, skins. So despite saying marathon isnt for destiny players, this says otherwise & rather than try to salvage destiny they're openly trying to take the remaining players away AND going live after renegades to milk every penny out of renegades sales before soon after trying to push them to marathon.
This time feels different, it feels like it's actually over.

The snowball picks up pace, 260k down to 234k in 1 day.

They can't be upset if their product is very buggy and not very good, it's made by their own hands so they have no one but themselves to blame for such feedback
-
No, they get upset when players aren't super excited, not the bugs. I still remember mtashed went to the D2 summit before release told 3 Devs that static rolls sucked & that the guns in general were boring & reskins & not exciting - & they burst into tears - deeply upset, & were sent home for wellness days. Mtashed wasn't invited again for like 4 years. He has a video up talking about it but it was like 6 years ago

They have no one to blame but themselves, it's their fault for making unexciting games and guns being stuck at 2009 borderlands era and wellness days for slight criticism? I'm surprised they manage to live that long, let alone landing a job at bungie

Oh man, I need to go look that up.

Yeah it was just after D2 launch roughly so we are looking at 6+ years ago.
