When you deactivate all platforms go back to only being able to access their own save data, in your case your Playstation would retain the characters/gear etc as its your active profile for cross-save and any (/ all) progress made while playing on Xbox has been made on your Playstation Destiny account.
Your Xbox would go back to whatever it had before cross-save was enabled, if anything existed on it. The /invite and /join codes would also not function properly for any accounts besides the Xbox account due to how Destiny handles look ups.
There isn't a way to permanently transfer your PS destiny data (characters, gear etc) to the Xbox account, cross-save is as close as it gets but the info is always going to be tied to the PS account.

So is the info safe if the playstation account were to get deleted?

Bungie doesn't wipe account data based on platform accounts no longer existing so your characters/progression/gear etc would be safe. With that said, any issues you run into that need you to deactivate cross-save - for example wanting to link a PC account into an already existing setup and it didn't correctly link - you would be completely unable to fix that and Bungie wouldn't step in. Another potential thing could be if they ever [i]do[/i] allow people to permanently transfer the info to a different platform account within the cross-save setup (extremely unlikely) then it would also require authentication of the account. You would need to decide if the what if situations outweigh the necessity for keeping the PS account active for you personally.

Obviously the stuff behind the scenes no one ever sees. As far as linking other accounts, i had stadia before, thought i had linked at one point but obv that doesnt exist any more. No clue if i plan on playing pc. Thats 4 times the price of a console. I would be far more likely to go back to sony but under a different username as i dont have access to that account any more. I have absolutely no need to keep the ps anything but seeing as all my info on xbox is tied intrinsically to that account then i would lose all progress here. The purchases are tied to my xbox account so that shouldnt effect anything.

Disabling Cross-Save will remove that, but then you'll only be able to play with your Playstation save data on the Playstation. It should be noted that you cannot unlink the PSN ID from your Bungie.net profile as of March 25th, so it will always be associated going forward, regardless of what you do. If you currently have Cross-Save set up to allow you to access your Playstation save data on the Xbox, then, as was mentioned by viiTactiiCZz, you'll lose access to your save data you've been using on the Xbox if you disable it.

Ok, clear on the psn ID being on account permanently, clear on i will lose my save data i use on Xbox if i deactivate cross save. I also looked up and it says i would lose season passes as well but will not lose dlc as they tied to. My main concern is if i ever go back to playstation it will not be on that PSN ID because i dont have access to it any more. So if i created a new sony account would the new account still accept the credentials and all that to allow me to play this account on playstation.

As you've already discussed with viiTactiiCZz, if you create a new PSN ID, you will not be able to link it to your current Bungie.net profile as you already have a PSN ID linked, nor can your data be merged with a new PSN ID. A new PSN ID will have its own save data. Even if you use the same login credentials as your old PSN ID, that old ID and the new ID will be different internally for Sony and Bungie, so you will not be able to play your current save data on Playstation with any new PSN ID, even if the display name matches. Sadly, if you want to play on the Playstation using your current save data, you will have to recover and use the old ID. There's no way around that.

Yeah i was more concerned with just being able to link any psn account to a bungie account. Not the same accounts i have now. Vtacticz answered that question. Unfortunately i dont have any of the informatin they would use to unlock account, im not losing much on the sony account. I havent even used it for years. The biggest downfall is i won't have any gear i have now or progress. Either way i talked to both you guys and sony and this issue is as resolved as i can get given what i know so ty for answering.

Another PSN account, regardless of it being the same name - email - billing details etc will have its own unique IDs which wont line up with what Bungie have stored for your current PSN account. They would be considered two completely different accounts for the purposes of cross-save/character accessing. You would need to regain access to the account (as you mentioned above you lost access) in order to use your characters/gear etc on PSN again in the future. If you ever did deactivate it then season passes/dungeon keys would stay with the PSN destiny account as that's who they're tied to. Expansions would be available to the Xbox destiny account as they aren't counted as in-game unlocks (like season passes and dungeon keys) but instead platform level licenses.

What if i made a new sony account and wanted to start fresh? Would i link it with this bungie account or would i need a 2nd bungie account?

If you made a new PSN and wanted to start fresh, it would use a new Bungie account as you couldn't unlink the current one from your current Bungie profile due to the March 25th linking change. You would also though not be able to bring across the Xbox account due to the same linking change.

I get that and that's the price i pay for not being more responsible and keeping track of emails and which account they are associated with. I didn't care about the psn account that much. I talked to psn. Unfortunately i have to eat my losses and i'll have to start brand new whenever i switch console/pc as i'd rather avoid the drama of screwing up my xbox account. Lol.

Ah, that's not a possible option while retaining access to your characters/gear etc on Xbox.
