Between enhancing weapons and the new weapon mods like the ballistic mod, I feel like there is not a whole lot of reason to get adept weapons.
In the past, adept weapons offered +2 to all stats plus adept mods which added +10 to 1 stat, but with enhancing, most weapons now have the +2 to all stats and the new mods add +6 to 2 stats.
So I feel that adding grip and stock options to adepts would be a great way to justify the difficulty in getting adepts without making them drastically stronger than the base weapon since these perks typically only add +5-10 to handling or stability.
I feel this is completely do able on bungies end, given that comp weapons have grip and stock options and adept weapons are separated from the base version in the api, meaning that they are technically a different weapon and can have different perks if bungie wanted.

if they keep adepts around yeah they should

There might be a perk limitation issue here. Comp weapons lose their origin trait for access to stocks and grips. While this is generally a good thing as the permanent extra stats tend to be better than the average origin trait and definitely better than One Quiet Moment, there are a lot of guns that would rather the origin trait. Alacrity is a fairly good origin trait in solo PvE and Trials and secondary origin traits like Wild Card and Field Tested on guns like Messenger, Eye of Sol, or The Immortal, for example, truly elevate the gun. I think to start they need to just add more adept mods to compete with the new base mods as the new base mods are incredibly powerful, and in most cases, better than using an adept mod. Flinch resist, improved ammo generation, elemental pickup/orb generation, and +14 stats along with Quick Access Sling are almost always better than the current adept mod selection besides Adept Mag, Adept Impact, and Adept Charge Time in specific cases. I don’t think there’s anything inherently bad with adepts being mostly just trophies, but there should be a reason to use them above an identical standard copy of the weapon if all else is equal, regardless of weapon type, even if the difference is fairly negligible. I imagine they won’t fix this issue at all though as we’re moving to a different system in Frontiers.
