[SPOILERS] Echoes Act 2 Ending and Dynasty Entry 2

Act 2 Ending:
We didn't go back to the Infinite Forest itself, but we did learn more about Nessus' purpose in the Vex's designs - it serves as an archive for "defunct" simulations, and Saint-14's tomb was archived on Nessus after we rescued him, alongside an "archived" version of Agioktis. Now Saint has the memories of the dead Saint alongside his own, and he's resolved his feelings over whether or not he is "the real Saint", realizing that it doesn't matter. There's no "real" or "true" Saint-14; each one is still Saint-14. NOTE: It seems the archived Agioktis is different from the Agioktis we destroyed because they are different frames. The one we dealt with was a giant Descendant Hobgoblin. The Archived one was a Precursor Minotaur. It could be the Conductor's doing, given they were seen converting normal Vex frames into Precursors. Speaking of, it is finally confirmed that the Conductor is Maya Sundaresh, the one who studied the Veil. She intends to use the Echo of Command to take control of the Vex Radiolaria and spread it across the system to create a new Golden Age and remove those who stand in the way of her plans. We even got a lore entry this week contrasting one of the Maya Sundareshes who is living inside the Vex Network with the Conductor. The VexNet Maya created a haven alongside her Chioma for those within the Vex Network to rest. The Conductor, on the other hand, finds an Exo Chioma, whose frame was not one of her works. She repairs this version of Chioma, and seems to have questions for her. A...stark and cold contrast to the loving couple within the Vex Network in the same entry. It makes me worried about how the Conductor will react to the simulated versions of the Ishtar Collective team.
I presume the second Dynasty entry is now available with the end of Act 2, so I can finally post my initial thoughts on it, along with more recent thoughts based on new information from the story.
I was quite wrong in my initial speculation about Te'Qal and the Qugu. It isn't that Te'Qal is an "ally" who wants to use the Echo to revive their race. In all likelihood, Te'Qal and the Qugu are the Echo of Command. The memory that formed the Echo of Command from the Witness' Darkness was theirs. We'll most likely get our answer in Act 3, considering Act 2 ended with the reveal of the Conductor's identity. Moving on to the lore entry: There was a Pyramid Ship on the Qugu homeworld, and it was buried under the Mountain. The very same Mountain that the Qugu built their entire civilization around, as was shown in the first chapter of Dynasty. In the second lore entry, once Savathun arrived in her flagship, she detonated a wave of soulfire that wiped away hundreds of ships on all sides. After that, the stone of the Mountain sloughed off to reveal the Pyramid, which proceeded to blast away the remaining Qugu civilization on the surface around it. This recontextualizes Savathun's assault upon the Qugu. It wasn't just another race on the list of those rendered extinct by the Hive. It seems the Witness sent Savathun to attack the Qugu because of the Pyramid Ship on their homeworld. It also raises the question of how the Qugu's connection to Darkness developed. Was it a natural development, or did the Pyramid Ship's presence have an influence on the Qugu, and the Qugu developed their connection in a way contrary to the Witness' views? It makes me wonder if something similar happened with the Ecumene, that there was a Pyramid Ship seeded somewhere within their galaxy. Only time will tell.
•
If you have seen the leaked cutscene for Act 3, Bungie is making this episode a cliff hanger. Most likely as well, we (as well as Bungie's story team if they still have any that weren't laid off) will completely forget arbout Maya as we go to fight Fikrul next episode. Who decided on this form of story, I don't know, but it feels like our efforts are wasted much like the potential of this game at that point.
