If you have seen the leaked cutscene for Act 3, Bungie is making this episode a cliff hanger. Most likely as well, we (as well as Bungie's story team if they still have any that weren't laid off) will completely forget arbout Maya as we go to fight Fikrul next episode. Who decided on this form of story, I don't know, but it feels like our efforts are wasted much like the potential of this game at that point.
To make my opinion clear, regardless of my dislike for you posting about leaks on a public forum, a cliffhanger would be the best way to resolve this episode. The Echoes are a major new plot thread. The introduction of Maya Sundaresh as the Conductor is even more so, given this Episode is her official introduction as a new villain. if she survives past this Episode, then it means Bungie currently has plans for her later down the road. NOTE: Regardless of Pete Parsons and the C-Suite's imbecilic decision-making skills and their lay-offs of even more people. What would you have preferred? That she should have been a one-and-done villain at a time when it is essential to set up new future conflicts and plot threads in the wake of the Witness' defeat?

A part of my problem has basically been towards how this season has been going. Instead of it basically focused on the big threat of the Echo of Command, it's basically just been all about Osiris and Saint's relationship. It feels like they didn't even know their focus on what this season was going to be about. As for it to be a cliffhanger, our whole objective was to get the Echo of Command to keep it out of enemy hands as there are still many more Echoes out there like the one Fikrul is going to have. Instead, we don't get it and it feels like we are just going to forget it is a thing despite it being a really big threat. Also, yes. I am honestly sick of Lakshmi since Season of the Splicer and Maya doesn't really feel that different. She just feels like the same annoying Lakshmi but now partnered with the Vex instead of getting killed by them. They could have just made some new creature born of the echo instead of basically the Destiny version of a Karen.

How has the threat of the Echo not been a major focus of the Episode? It is the reason why the Vex are changing under Maya Sundaresh's command, and it is the main cause of the turmoil Saint-14 has been going through. If Maya Sundaresh escapes with the Echo of Command, it just means a new threat has been established. Shifting the focus to Fikrul just means he is the more immediate threat with whatever Echo he possesses.

Part of why I say this is because at this point, I feel we should have learned a thing or 2 about letting a big threat like that run. We had Oryx who basically did the same thing and we took him down. Now we have Maya who just runs off in the end not even in a fight and we don't think to go after her or even attempt to shoot her as she runs so in turn she will learn to control the power of the Echo of Command without any form of threat to her. Imagine this as well. Last episode is going to be us going to the dreadnaught. If people's speculations are true and we fix it so we can go to other solar systems or whatever, imagine we just completely forget Maya was even a thing as she just sits there on Nessus with the Echo of Command. Now it feels like that cliff hanger idea is quite the terrible one isn't it. Especially seeing as how the whole thing with the dreadnaught isn't going to have anything to do with her, but most likely with Xivu instead, an actual threat compared to grandma over there.
-
That is all it is at the moment: speculation. We don't know what will go on with the Dreadnaught yet. That story has not yet been told, yet you're already basing your reception of the current episode and its long-term effects on the story, which hasn't even finished yet, on speculation?

Well considering Seasons weren't all that good and so far this one is the same thing but much slower, pretty sure it's not going to go that well. Especially since they laid off their Narrative designer and lead so who knows what the story is going to be like anymore.
-
Oh c'mon for real? Wth! No wonder these dummies are losing their jobs
-
I mean, to top it off, they laid off their Narrative designer and Narrative lead so...
-
Well good!
-
Really? Over 200 people lost their jobs, and here you are blaming them instead of the C-Suite's horrible decision-making?
-
Everyone shares the blame

Every episode ends in a cliffhanger. Then at the end of the third they all join together like f’n Voltron. 😂

Honestly, if all of them would be cliff hangers with each one just running yet again, it just feels like Bungie is giving us a massive screw you. Not like episodes have already been that before they even released.
