Please log out of Bungie.net, then log in, making sure to type your username and password in. Please note that Steam uses username to log in, not email. Based on what you've said, you've linked a different Steam ID to your Bungie.net profile than the one you normally use, and as such, it won't show your current characters. If you go to Steam's website and use the forgotten password feature on their login page, after entering the code from your email, you should see each username associated with that email; that way you know how to log into the other without using email.
