I have a problem with your opinion, not that you shouldn't have one but that even you said we hardly know anything about the Cabal. Therefore you cannot state an assumption if you know nothing about something. The Cabal have only sent a scouting party to our system, and their empire is on its way. They have the ability to destroy moons and planets. They know probably as much as Toland about the Hive, and are still learning about the Vex. They are also aware of the Fallen (on Mars). They potentially have the single best coordinated military in the galaxy and their firepower is unmatched. They are also probably the only race to be reasoned with, a.k.a we could be allies as Guardians and Cabal. This is mostly because we have enemies in common and they have some sense of rational thought. Also, we attacked them first (first mission on mars) which was an act of war in their eyes - so all we'd need to do is call out a ceasefire and say sorry about a massive misunderstanding that lead to main leaders of their scouting party to be assassinated. Separate from this; I think the Fallen will mostly likely be wiped. I know that we have yet to see the power of House of Kings, but the rest of the houses are helpless. They would need to band together to be a true threat.

  •
The Cabal have only sent a scouting party to our system, and their empire is on its way. They have the ability to destroy moons and planets.
This is correct.
They know probably as much as Toland about the Hive, and are still learning about the Vex. They are also aware of the Fallen (on Mars).
No. Ghost Fragment: Cabal 4 shows how little intel the Cabal have on the Hive. Similarly, they most likely do not understand the Vex very well outside of viewing them as a threat.
They potentially have the single best coordinated military in the galaxy and their firepower is unmatched.
It's possible that they have the most coordinated military, but their firepower is far outmatched by that of the Reef and Hive.
I highly doubt that we will become allies with the Cabal. They are a part of an empire and it is their job to conquer. And again, you are incorrect about first contact with the Cabal. They attacked us first, as evidenced in the Crimson Days card. "Therefore you cannot state an assumption if you know nothing about something."

  • As you said, the Cabal know precious little about the Hive, which is why they viewed Oryx as such a non-threat upon arrival, to disastrous results. I think they know more about the Vex than we think, since the scouting party's sole purpose was to study and acquire their tech. It may not be a holistic understanding, but I'm sure they know quite a bit. While the Cabal in system may be outmatched by the Hive and Reef (which I actually doubt unless we include the Dreadnought and Oryx) they certainty aren't as a whole. Remember, these guys are nothing more than scouting units and they were able to enter a war with time traveling war machines and actually appear to be winning. Put the full weight of the Empire behind them and they blow the Reef and the Hive (minus the gods) out of the water with ease. And he isn't entirely wrong. Since the Cabal have a functioning government they are realistically probably the easiest group to actually make an alliance with. We probably won't, and we'll probably end up with the Fallen on our side, but realistically the Cabal are very possible.

Also, do not forget that the Cabal have a somewhat relationship with the Fallen on Mars. They have been known (in the games story) to not be hostile towards one another.

  • All the Cabal know how to do is kill or enslave their enemies. And they know little to nothing about the Hive and Vex. All they know is that the Hive are successful at killing Guardians and they are not. The last thing the Cabal would probably do is ally themselves with the very thing they want to defeat. I also doubt they can beat Xivu Arath in terms of war.
