1 Reply"Christian" originated as a demeaning term, intended to mock people who followed Jesus or Jesus' teachings. It'd be the equivalent of me calling someone who posts a bunch of pictures of their butt on the Internet a "little Kardashian". Christians who were first given the title saw it as a good thing, of course, since the meaning was basically someone attempting to act like Jesus. Mormons are pretty open when it comes to taking about their faith, so if you don't understand why they use that title, maybe you should just ask them in what way they try to emulate Christ. I'm sure they'd answer that one for you.

3 RepliesTo everyone saying that Mormons are Christian, they are not. Mormons see God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as separate beings. Also, they follow another book besides the bible ( they still use the bible, just not predominantly). And, they believe you get to heaven through good works, whereas Christians believe you get there by faith. Because of this, Christians(Catholics, baptists, luthererans, etc) say that Mormons are not Christian, and that they will go to hell.

Some key differences: -they believe Jesus and Satan are brothers -they think God was just like us, but made it to the top level of heaven and created our universe, which his wife celestialy gave birth to -if you live good enough here on Earth, you'll be able to create your own universe, just like this one (take the place of God) Not saying they're bad people, but they're beliefs are far from any other domination of Christianity

Theyre technically all christians but the ones that live in my town dislike the non mormon christians here, because they think their word is better than ours.
