Well with the PVE world being a blend of single and coop play, by using the same PSN id on all your characters, it makes identifying a player much easier. The game is suppose to be based around the chance for random encounters with other players. They may have been fun to play with but you don't necessarily add them to your play list. If they had different names for each character and you bump into them again, you wouldn't recognize them to possibly play with. On the opposite end, it helps identify people you want to avoid, no matter what character they play. Besides that, our characters have no real personality. There is no background for our characters. They are not roleplaying characters so PSN id work just fine. This is a shooter after all.

  • its not your psn ID its your bungie ID and that can be changed any time that wouldn't help u avoid anyone. because they will just change their ID. and come troll u some more.

  • While you have a point it's really not seeing the big picture. Your gamertag or username is all that you are on every game, it's how you log into your machine and how matchmaking and party find/chat is done. That doesn't change, if you liked playing with me while I was logged on my Exo Titan named Zeke for example, and you send me a friend request then the next time I log on it will tell you Faceliss Man is online, not Zeke is online. Zeke is an alias for that specific character, not the person behind it. You can't friend request Zeke, but the gamertag that made Zeke. See what I'm saying? It's not that crazy or remotely difficult for them to have this option.
